And so are you!
How did you make all those cute little puppets (you made that one that looked like kenyon right)?

Thank you!
Haha I sure did, it took a lot of patience and polymer clay
Mainly Sculpey or Fimo.

Ah I see, and long does it approx. take you to make one?
Well they are all excellent, especially the Joker one (you perfectly captured Kenyon too, I must say).

The body takes 15 minutes or so...Sometimes when I'm frustrated it takes awhile longer, because I'm like "ARGHHHH I DON'T LIKE IT *squish*" and have to start over. XD
I've never really paid attention to the time it takes to make the head, but I make each individual strand of hair and place it in a...relatively strategic manner? O.o LOL
I'm making this sound more complicated than it is, haha.
And thank you very much!
I'd be happy to make one for you if you'd like

Great Stress Relief: Make body of an enemy- *SQUISH*
Haha, it's ok. When I try and struggle with graphite, I just go, "YAY RANDOM, "STRATEGIC" STROKES ACROSS THE PAGE THAT WILL ONLY RESEMBLE CAREFUL SHADING CAUSE I'M REALLY LAZY!"
The praise is deserved, lol.
And a clay-me actually would be really interesting to see. If you have the time to make one, I'd be very happy. XD

Yippee!
I can't wait to see it.
XD
Actually, I haven't sculpted since middle school...with very uncooperative play-doh. What's it like?

LOL well that works too! XD
Haha well I won't be at school for a few days, doctor's orders. And I really have nothing to do so that shall be a fun, relaxing way of entertaining myself ^__^
Have you ever tried sculpting with polymer?

No problem.
We had tom paint self-portraits based on his style. I'm a big fan of Closes' earlier work.
: )

me to, its absolutely amazing work,
his work after the accident isnt really to my tastes but i respect him for continuing to paint and still greatly admire his work
i feel its very inspiring

ADamnableLiability In reply to emmazillo [2009-08-25 02:33:03 +0000 UTC]
Quite!
Yeah, his post-accident work is very interesting and creative, but it doesn't compare with the accuracy and intensity of his earlier airbrushed portraits.

No problem.
The drawing was very well done.
Did you have a model?

marynightshade In reply to ADamnableLiability [2009-07-08 20:25:34 +0000 UTC]
Thank you very much! It was originally done in the early "noughties", I'm having trouble remembering specifics. All my stuff was done from photos or was copied from some work of art-sometimes I'll put heads onto figure studies because...well, I just prefer it that way. I'm sure that the face, at least, was from some photo. Odd angle, but it worked pretty well.

Mmm, very nice then!
Yeah I get most of my material from photographs too, but I have not mastered full body sketches yet.

You might want to trace-at least the outline. It gives you a clear view of the task at, uh, hand. I know I didn't trace this one, but some of mine had the traced outline for a guide.

ADamnableLiability In reply to marynightshade [2009-07-08 20:43:21 +0000 UTC]
Lol, huzzah for tracing!
I'm actually alright with outlining and contouring, but I have technical difficulties with proportion (which is where tracing would be nice), and shading (which is a bitch because skin can have such a wide range of melded tones to it) XD
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
marynightshade In reply to ADamnableLiability [2009-07-08 20:45:36 +0000 UTC]
For some reason, I seem to do pretty well with shading-but proportion is a killer, trying to make it so that someone doesn't have a freakishly huge noggin or a tiny pinhead.

ADamnableLiability In reply to marynightshade [2009-07-08 20:49:41 +0000 UTC]
I KNOW!
It's like..grrrrr...
Lucky you, lol. I despise graphite with a passion, and even charcoal has its bad side. But I guess I'm just out of practice XD

marynightshade In reply to ADamnableLiability [2009-07-08 20:59:52 +0000 UTC]
I don't know why graphite works for me. My use of charcoal is usually limited to trying to cover up mistakes I made with graphite.

ADamnableLiability In reply to marynightshade [2009-07-08 21:09:41 +0000 UTC]
My shading in graphite never looks right; I can't blend for shit. So I exclusively use charcoal.

marynightshade In reply to ADamnableLiability [2009-07-08 21:17:31 +0000 UTC]
Whatever works! The last one I uploaded today, "Vampire's Desire", has areas on both of the faces where, after making photocopies of the original, I added shading because I realized some parts didn't look right-and the photo I used for reference was from a long-since-stolen library book, something like "The Lesbian Book of Vampires".

LOVE the title : P
I'm thinking of becoming a art-class model.
It would at least get me out of my despondent economic situation.

Rotfl.
That was a joke, actually, when I first made the account. XD
Nah, just a regular "Life Studies" art kind of class.
