They fail to comprehend the concept of weather other than summer-like with mild showers.
I literally just got off the phone with a friend who was complaining about how there's a cold snap on big island- it's 69 degrees! she has to wear two sweaters and a scarf!

I laughed for about five minutes straight, with more then a modicum of bitterness.

My sister lives on Oahu. She says she's tired of it always being 80 degrees and misses the snow a little.

Yeah, the last time I was in Hawaii and it was 60 degrees people had down coats on, the freaks.

I missed the cold weather out there too, but relished the fact that the days didn't get much shorter.

Another friend thought that I was making up Hail, and that we regularly got feet of snow and hurricane-force winds.

I would tease them mercilessly, and flaunt my hardiness in the face of 69 degree weather with a t-shirt and shorts.

Hey, how's that Top Web Comics advertising treating you? Did the box ad perform at all? My skyscraper ad recently ran for a brief 50,000 imprint shot, and boy, I wish I'd ordered more. It took four months to get through the queue, but wow. Traffic galore.

The box ad drove tons of traffic to my site, and I don't think I'm out of impressions quite yet.

The thing is, very few of the people who came to look ever came back or got past the latest page. However, I hear that's typical for an ad campaign. I'm going to try yet another box ad!

Hmmph. Tons of traffic equals good. I've found that when I run an ad, I don't get too many unique viewers, but I DO get the visitors staying for a while. On the recent TWC ad, for instance, I scored only 400 unique visitors the one day, but those 400 people drove the pageview count well past 12,000. Here's to hoping they come back!

Did it plummet while the ad was still going? Hmmm. I wonder whether a fresh ad would make another spike? Maybe people just visually tune an ad out after a bit. Good to hear that the stayers really stayed, though.

Yes, the view deluge lasted one week, then went down, though not to pre-ad levels. Then just tonight it spiked again, but I don't know why - I can't see anything new in the statcounter thing. I'll take the view though!
