I had to go through your Gallery and refresh my memory as to which fox you were using as your ID Pic-Phill! I'd like to do a black (or super dark silver) one day myself...

Awe, you could of asked & saved time. ;D

Generally speaking... on a subject I dislike, (in MY opinion)true Silvers USED to be black with white tipped guard hairs on their lower backs. Dark mahogany in the sun. Hard to find a really good specimine that represents them:Β www.hideandfur.com/inventory/6… It seems more natural to me besides.

Whether they are ranched or wild, now they are mostly... www.hideandfur.com/inventory/6… Very common to find. I honestly prefer the more black variety of the red gene. Everyone else seems to go for the ones that look like the above link.

Anyhow, Phill is an outstanding ranched fur that I stumbled upon on ebay for dirt cheap that some guy managed to buy with several others from a tannery. I got to take my pick.

Most glorious fur... it's like long baby hair, and less like fur. Dark undercoat too, and he's not ginormis. Yote sized fox furs are 'meh' to me.

Phill has a long luxurious mane too. Some of the fur is 7" long! Amazing. Click on the image to get a close look at that mane!! It's like that down to his shoulders <3Β  Β <3

Now you got me on a Phill kick! XD I'll have to take new pix of him! (since all my others are 'lost' on my other laptop.

This is changing!Β  I was checking outΒ  Silvers on Hide and Fur,Β  www.hideandfur.com/inventory/6… Β  and wasΒ  surprised by all of the darker silvers on their site.Β  Then, within the last few days,a couple of other people mentioned it, too.Β  I REALLY want to do a black fox one day (even if it is dyed), but with silvers this dark that would be fine...Β  And LLLOOOVVVEE the pic of Phil resting in his tree-he is SO cute!Β

My second red fox soft mount Cherie has some weak leather in her crotch area, I have a scrap fox I was going to use to replace the leather. Hoping to give the technique a try soon. Β

Sure why not! Not sure when I'll get around to it. I need to unstuff her bum to get at it. I put plastic beads in a sock to make her hips but I overstuffed it. Β Thats when the seam I sewed shut started to rip. I'm going to follow the tutorial and use flexible fabric glue to re-inforce my stitches.Β

I must say, I have rarely found another person who DOSEN'T think rats are the vermin of the world!

They, like 98% of all animals are sorely given a bad name, and I'm glad someone else love the little fuzz-balls as I do! ^^D

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AtFirstPlush In reply to Werewolf-Pirate [2014-11-21 04:38:26 +0000 UTC]

And I do too!

dA is a wonderful place that way, cuz I've found the same thing! "is THAT a RAT?! OMG, IEW!!!" Β to "OMG, is THAT YOUR RAT, he is so fat and cute!!!" - And I am glad to know you!!!

You gotta join hereΒ rattus-norvegicus.deviantart.c… I know there are a few more great rat groups on dA. It would appear that our European neighbors are the biggest rat fans around.

!!!

This is a new era for rat love for me... I've had many rats since HS and my rat Jasper was also a feeder rat. BUT he is the most loving and affectionate rat I have EVER had. He has also opened the door to me about what a rats true potential can reach. YES, I have finally learned for myself that rats can be lap pets, couch taters, play games and even initiate them! And that when they want something, that they can teach ME.Β

I am simply dumbfounded that I have never seen this type of 'feature' in any of my other rats. I guess I have finally 'matured' enough to be open to what a pet rat REALLY is. AND just how different their personalities can be. Because Jasper and Sweets live their lives on two totally different wave lengths, I am tickled pink to have the fat lover, and the active playmate. I'm just happy to say that I am at the center of their worlds.

Rats RULE! LOL

werewolf-pirate.deviantart.com…

I'm surprised! Over the years more and more decent artists have left, and the trolls have taken over.
I refuse to let them win.

I've joined! That is a great club!!
(And I am European! *laughs* )

Isn't it weird that the animals that were bred SPECIFICLALLY as food for other animals are the sweetest things ever!?

They are incredibly smart!
And he would ride around on my cat!

People go 'awww! look at the bunny! or squirrel! ' but it's a rodent as well!
I think people like them more than rats because rats generally aren't as fuzzy, but rats are incredibly fun!

They are great teachers! And aren't as vocal as everyone seems to think. Servo only made a squeak about 4 times in all the time I've had him.
(Cutest thing EVER!! It sounds like a kittens' mew!! )

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AtFirstPlush In reply to Werewolf-Pirate [2014-11-22 02:20:15 +0000 UTC]

Trolls. *sigh* They don't just live under bridges anymore! lol

Your European?! Where abouts?

It's ironic, but makes sense in a weird kind of lovable way. And smart... I knew they had brains, but I had no idea to the extent of it. Jasper, Trouble and Sweets opend that door wide open for me.Β

I always get with Jasper when I take him out with me, "OMG! I've never seen anyone with a guinepig out with them b4, (as they pet him) THEN they see his tail and wince?! Hey pal, you were just PETTING HIM. NOW your scared.

When I give Jasper a bath, he'll sit there as I scrub him, and in a grumpy protest he'd let out light squeaks as if to complain. But when the bath is over, he is allll into the dry off, the brushing and loves, and I'll try to imitate a litter-mate grooming him, and he'll just lay on my chest on top of a heated blanket lying down with his eyes closed and brux and brux. He lets me look him over in detail and love every bit of it. You'd THINK that he'd associate the bath with wonderful things, but it's always the same thing. Sit and be washed and grump about it 'till it's over. LOL

My grandfather (on my mothers' side) is from London.
My grandfather on my fathers' side is 'Native American'
and my Greatgreatgreat and so on grand mother/father is German. ^^

They are surprisingly smart!! Servo walked on a leash! (Was that EVER a shock for people! )

I was working on several tricks (teaching him to walk backwards)

I love their little tails! There so BALD!
I've been working on a Servo fur suit, and the tail HAS to be bald!

I used to dump him in our kiddie pool and soap him up!
I was surprised as well that rats are so CLEAN! He loved swimming! and while I PET him while he swam!? (when I gave him a bath)

They are so SOFT!!

AtFirstPlush In reply to Werewolf-Pirate [2014-11-22 03:13:18 +0000 UTC]

I am only 4th generation American. I'd say 75% of my family is German. My Great grandfather on my dads side defected from the (Russian) Czars army when he was 17 and came to America. My mom was adopted, but my sister and I got to meet my moms birth family. NINE brothers and sisters, and found out my grandfather was Native American! I knew there was something about myself that was kind of destined or intertwined with Nature?!!!!

Daw... Servo sounded like he was one of the greatest rats ever! :'->

Any pix of your suit?!!!!!Β

Jasper would probably drown. He's too damned lazy to 'save' himself. LOL

I use PertPlus human shampoo on the boys, and it makes them so soft and smell sooo good!

Not really. I only have the head partially sculpted.

Aww. Poor Jas!

*laughs* I used cat shampoo! XDΒ

oh god, I was like I have HOW MANY cousins?!!!!!! @_@' that's gonna be a LOT of mailing come xmas! *panicks* LOL

My sister is in TOTAL denial of her N.American side. She is stuck up. We don;t get along all that well. But we 'pretend.'Β
I'd try my hand at making a fur suit, but I know I'd never get it finished. :/ I'd rather pay someone else to do it when I'm ready.

Hahahahaha. He is a HUGE momma luvin WUSS. Everything is Momma all day every day. And when Momma isn't paying attention for 2 seconds he goes over to his dad and gets pitty love. Sweets is ALL Over the place now. He comes out, greets me, runs across the floor or couch, climbs up the couch, plays "chase me" with hubby and when hubby stops he nips his toes and runs off and comes back...lol. Then when the game is over, he likes to run back and forth over his laptop and steals his wireless mouse USB adapter and hides it under a pillow and then tries to steal something else! Then he enjoys running as fast as he can across the back of the couch, taking flying leaps, and then gets in someones hand, and wants to wrestle. He is a royal hoot!Β

LOTS of Christmas cards!
I don't know most of my family. They're in New York, Pennsylvania, Kansas and New Orleans.

Most of my family acts that way. . .
It's only myself and my late grandfather that have any kind of spiritual connection to the earth.
I never met him, but everyone says I'm the most like him.

I'm pretty good at making suits. I made my own, and plushies!
I made Jack's head in two days.

The big babies! That's Bo now. I MUST pay attention to him!
Awww! Your little sweetie!~!

All I've personally got left from my immediate family is my father and my sister who is in Va. Dad lives about 30 mins away. Its a long boring story, but I grew up in NJ, and out of 'fate' wound up down here in TN(where my mom was from as a baby). I send cards. That's about as much effort as I'm personally willing to expel on seeing my family. Sadly, I don't fit in. And I never see my moms family. (My mom passed suddenly when I was 15) Anyhow - no downers there. But I am very happy with my own little family, the pets and our hermit lives. LOLΒ

I gotta re check out your gallery!!!

Escher, my big black spotted striped/tuxedo cat (whom we think is part bobcat - his dad) Escher is a HUGE pushover and he gets into one sided arguments using his FACE as his defens. LOL Apparently he's a lover not a fighter and just sits there and doesn't defend himself. And if he gets out, he must 'try to make friends' with coons, cuz he always comes home banged up and wants someone to 'poor poor pitiful me' him. LOL He's a real doll. And he greets you by head butting you. It's very endearing, but painful LOL He's large and HEAVY. And his love can be ... abusive.

The ladies who found his family and captured his mom and domesticated her, say they saw "ears in the lettuce!" and when they went out to look, found 4 kittens. Escher was one of them. LOL

All my cats were rescues, my big dog Shannon has her own rescue story, and I guess Jasper was a rescue too, since he was to be rat food. lol

I'm sad to hear that, but you seem to be doing ok for your self. ^^)
I enjoy the hermit life; as long as it's by the sea!

Why?

Escher! I love that! ^^D
(You know you're an art fan! )
Why are the 'wild' ones so pitiful?! *laughs* Both the cats I got as strays (Archimedes & Luna. Both from the same litter) are such CRYBABIES!

Fuzzy baby EARTUFTS!!

All the loves!! If I could, I'd be up to my ears in fuzzy babies!!
(Or, if you've seen Big Hero 6, "Haaaaaaairy baby" ! )

I meant to ask you before, do you have a favorite animal, or character of your own?

Daw, you are the sweetest, EVER!

Yeah, I am still into it. I have at least 6 things half finished or just started. One is gonna be OUTSTANDING I think. I just haven't had the time. Hubby ONLY works 3 days a week(Sunday, Monday and Wed.), and when he's home, he 'backpacks" me (as he calls it) and kind of gives me those big old manly doe eyes when I wanna work... "do you haaaaaaaaveeeee toooo?" - But I want to get back into it. I have two wolves I have been DYING to work on, but I need at least 3 days in a row uninterrupted to do just do their heads, and I'm just not getting the time. ( I fill my time with other craft stuff that I can do in a few hours... but it;s just not the same. *sigh*

Thank you!!! And the same here to you! I hope you have LOTS of color and wonderful days. Rumor has it winter is fast approaching.

And a Happy SpooOOOoooOOOoooky pre Halloween to you!!! It's almost Friday!!! Muahahaha!

p.s. where is your jack o lantern???!!!

I'm almost in the same position as him and I see a lot that my partner never has time to do anything either which is a blow. Wolves? Oh goodness, I definitely wanna see those! I really do hope to see more of your work! Seriously!

Yes!!! I'm in New England! We're notorious for our fall colors! I haven't felt any signs of winter yet but we're definitely gonna brace for it!

Thank you!!! Friday can't come any fast! :boogie
