Hey man! Β It's been a while since Flipnote, hasn't it?
I've reconnected with my old roots and am seeking out all things flipnote-y! Β Glad to see you're still creating content, I've read your Toasted series so far
Also, I recently posted a Deviation -- an old unfinished flipnote that was partially inspired by you! Β Feel free to check it out!Β theghost129.deviantart.com/artβ¦

Hey dude, it has been a while! : D
Thanks for checking out my new content, I hope you like it!
Nice job on Flipnote! I'm curious, what part of that did I inspire? : o

A long time ago, you released a short flipnote of two stick figures fighting in a box. Β It wasn't much, but I always like the idea of branching outside of a comfort zone.
The box environment was destructible and I thought that would make a really cool type of setting, using the environment as a weapon.

Oh yeah, that! : D
I like that concept too. I'd like to make a full fledged stick fight based on that concept one day.

Speaking of making content nowadays, I recently got myself a tablet and am looking into making pixel animations similar to flipnote, so it can't be flash... Β What software do you use?
π: 0 β©: 1
Cartoonynerd In reply to Theghost129 [2017-04-06 06:20:36 +0000 UTC]
I'm honestly not sure. :0
I'd recommend looking up what other pixel animators use. I'm sticking to Flipnote for big pixel animations right now because I like the simplicity.

After searching for a week, I've started using something called opentoonz. Β It was originally used to make Futurama and Studio Ghibli. Β A lot of pixel animators kept recommending Ms paint for some reason :T

Oh yeah, I heard about that! It's pretty cool that they released it!
MS Paint is good for drawing pixel art. Not sure about animating it though.

Seems like a nice program to make pixel animations in.

Nice job! It was cool to see you talking out of your character like that with so much lip sync! : )
It's almost like IT'S ACTUALLY YOU. :0

Theghost129 In reply to Cartoonynerd [2017-04-18 03:32:36 +0000 UTC]
Stepping out of the comfort zone, eh? . Β Never used my voice before
I've only specialized in stick fights, but I've moved onto lip sync, and I like it! Β Next videos will be: My old stickfights [no commentary], My flipnote history -- lots of action and humor for those who play the games I've mentioned!

Nice job, dude (especially on the box fight one).
I watched the whole thing and you've improved a lot. Cool!

Theghost129 In reply to Cartoonynerd [2017-05-09 02:16:10 +0000 UTC]
Thanks! Β The real challenge was remastering it all in HDΒ imgur.com/a/yZwE7
If I automate the process of downloading an exporting flipnotes, I could potentially archive them all in HD
π: 0 β©: 1
Cartoonynerd In reply to Theghost129 [2017-05-09 04:07:52 +0000 UTC]
The way I got Bounce to HD was simply:
1: Export as a gif.
2: Bring gif into Gimp (I'm assuming other programs can do this as well) and scale gif up to 1080 in height (lossless scaling).
3: Export the gif to a video file (might have to use another program for this).
4: Bring video into iMovie (you might be able to just bring the gif in to be honest).
5: Using iMovie, add in high quality non-DSi/3DS audio.
6: Export as a video again.
7: Upload to YouTube
I think that's all I did? I'm not sure if that's easier than what you did, but I thought I might as well mention it.

Theghost129 In reply to Cartoonynerd [2017-05-09 09:31:51 +0000 UTC]
Ooooo, sounds like a good method, you sure beat me to it hahaha. Β I used a very similar one (overlaying a GIF with AVI audio)Β but through impractical means . Β The problem is is that locked flipnotes cannot export GIF.
BUT, I actually didn't know that GIFs can be put into GIMP, that could be useful if I archive, as my current means (raw AVI) are inefficient.
