Hi... sorry I've been gone so long. I've just been insanely busy since the move and haven't yet figured out how to fit any amount of private time in my schedule for drawing and comments. I don't mean to ignore you guys and still wish to come back to dA.

Since last Sunday the only internet I have is my phone... the cable guy supposedly came today but I still have to buy a cable modem tomorrow... Then I can get back and really do stuff again. Also we set up a desk today for computerstuff. I insisted on getting a model that has enough space for a drawing tablet

I'm going to be constantly adding to it for the next while; I think I've improved immensely since that nasty "Doggy" drawing (which is now in the scrapbook 
Oh, and I'm thinking of doing it in Graphite instead of digitally inked. Reason being is that there's a sort of really neat detail that's lost when I do the digital inking. It's somewhat unprecedented; and I'm worried it might make it look very Ameteur, but it does, IMO, look better as Graphite...

It's still there, just not featured. You gotta click the "browse" button to see everything. When I realized that the first thing people were noticing is stuff that's either really old or that I'm no longer proud of, I tend to move it to scraps, or at least hide it from featured.
You'll probably improve faster on paper than you will on the computer, so that's a plus, and drawing a comic will definitely get you lots of practice. Still, you should make sure that with each drawing you make, you take something away from it to apply to future pieces... a way of drawing something, or some technique. If there was ever proof that a non-artist can improve enough to make nice pictures, it's me, and experimentation is the primary factor in how I've improved so significantly in just a few short months! Sometimes techniques are realized through finding elements you like in others' art, and sometimes they happen on accident. But you still gotta try hard to remember exactly HOW you made something look good, so you can re-use it!
Based on my own experience, you'll find that a lot of the first drawings you do will look okay for a few weeks, and then you'll hate them. Then, you'll apply what you've learned and start making stuff that is more timeless (i.e., that one Asbowlyn picture for me). Then, once you've done that, you can usually figure out how to make stuff look at least that good from then on.
About your comic... the story sounds interesting, but I don't think I'll be able to actually tell the characters apart because their styles look so very similar!

Thanks for all the advice and pointers. Despite the fact I've just come into this I've already seen what you've said a bit - enough to see that you're right but I haven't noticed it on my own.
The story is a lot more than what I've written - since there's a plot and subplots I can't say much without spoiling things, though
The characters go considerably deeper than what I've written, also. But that gets into the more serious part; not the time for that... yet
Anyways, I think Tayler is pretty easy to tell apart; he's unique in a number of ways, not the least of which are the most fox-like ears
Soul is going to be even bigger and furrier, so that just leaves telling in-between Winnifred and Liah.
Though Liah has a bone-shaped tag, different ears,a more rounded muzzle, 3 whisker-dots instead of 2 and she's a bit smaller than everyone else.
Maybe at first It'll be kinda hard, but these characters will get introduced one at a time, and I think the things listed above should be about good enough for that.
First it's just Tayler and Eric (which means I really need to step on my human-drawing skills!), Winnifred appears at #13, and Liah and Soul don't appear until well after #24 (which is what I have scripted up to).

I dunno. That's something I should experiment with, as much as it'd be really nice, and I've developed some skill in that area and some neat techniques in terms of coloring consistently, it would make the storytelling go slower... Possibly.
Which is why I need to experiment with it. If it's not too hard I'll color them, but if it makes the storytelling go a lot slower I won't.
Speaking of which, I've colored two of them, I know the coloring for Soul, but I need to create the coloring for Liah, now...
Anyways, since I'm going to go deep at some rare occasions, I don't want to make it too cartoonish. I want to aim for something like Skailla's style: Cartoonish enough to look cute and laugh; but realistic enough to take seriously when it's serious.
Aside from Skailla, Fox and the Hound and The Lion King also do this, that I can think of off the top of my head. And remember those were very realistically drawn.
If I overexagerate certain features too much it'll end up being too cartoonish, and not realistic enough to go deep, which is why It's kind of hard to tell them apart 
Interesting I should mention that... Skailla colors her comics, and it's her style that's my role model... so, I dunno. I'll have to see how the experimenting goes.
(well, really my role model is Skailla (OMFA) + Whatupwidat (Woods for the Trees) + Mark Stanley (Freefall) + RL. No offense intended, you're very good, but not the feel I'm aiming for with the comic.)
Now, as for drawing humans; I'm in a real fix, there. A mess...
I guess I'll know how bad off I am when I try and see how bad I am, lol. Don't actually know yet, maybe my drawing of a human face won't make a grown, buff truckdriver of a man cry and try to pull his eyes out like it did last time
(The Department of Defense took interest in my human-face drawings as weapons of psychological warfare against terrorists, but soon dropped the program when they realized it was just as deadly to anyone handling it, and no amount of safety precautions could make handling it safe enough for our own airmen, since it was to be dropped from a high, relatively safe altitude.
(Note; the program has probably gone underground as a WMD project for last-ditch defenses against an extraterrestrial unbeatable opponent.)
Okay, maybe my human-face drawing skills aren't that bad. I did make up that last part about it going underground against aliens. So maybe my drawings can improve.
On the other hand, I'm really considering making Eric Robbins a character where you never see his face. Not for my drawing skills (well, partly), but also to give him a really epic, aloof, sort of God-like respect for his rare appearances. (Makes me think of the Mayor's assistant from the Power Puff girls
This could work since he's not a major interacting character, and dogs do have that sort of respect for humans, so it'll help the reader see things from their perspective
(Except Soul, she has a thing against humans... Winnifred is distrusting from his earlier criminal/scavenging/stray life, but doesn't outright dislike them.)
