Well they are going to pitch the idea to the author's family to obtain legal rights to produce the movie, but as you said no funding. But I have seen their commitment to it, they know it's a challenge, but they are willing to do it.

well, there's commitment and commitment...this isn't like a couple of hours a week thing- animated films only happen with legions of animators working around the clock.
the only way i could see this working would be if they ran a short film based on a shorter redwall story- or a rough pilot first to pull together a sponsor or two...it's cool that people want to do this, but just starting to draw is not the way to go about it.

Well they aren't just drawing it right away, the project has been in session(for lack of a better term) for soon to be two years come August. They are planning on doing all the character designs, storyboards, animatics, script, and voice actor lines within 4-6 years so they can gain a few sponsors and the legal rights to do it as well.
