it's better just to not have him at all, you have a tendency to make other characters fall for him and use him as a megaphone for your views. Any Gary Stu spoils a story.

I do know the difference and your chracter is one of the worst, you centre the entire story around him, the cast falls in love with him AND you use him as a megaphone for your beliefs
