I found it very interesting that SimsDoc hides all "thank you" comments but chose to leave yours up, so I couldn't help but interject (being a person that receives a fair bit of favs, comments, and crits).
I don't agree with the aversion to people saying thank you, but going even deeper with an aversion to faves them self, well that's something new

That's a fair point, trully.
The thing is, when the only thing you get is fav, you get excited at first. But as time goes on and you get minimal comments and crits, you get annoyed of them.

A way to see this would be to see the feedback icon, feel all happy, but then feel foreveralone when you see it's a fav.

I guess if you really are looking for constructive critique on your work, my biggest piece of advice is don't try to get any from DA, you'll have to find a critique oriented forum to help you with that. I used to frequent [link] before I was on DA, they're a good bunch of people, just be ready for that genuine critique.
DA is a gallery focused on the display and viewing of art, the actual social aspects of it are secondary as far as the culture here goes.
