just about everything! i love the fantasy aspect, and then how it's relating to "real life" in the war. i like how it's violent, yet sentimental at the same time, not just a mindless slasher movie. i don't know why some people don't "get" it. it all made perfect sence to me.

i can agree with the idea that it relates to how war really is, not some superhero-everybody-is-going -to-be-just-fine-in-the-end story, but i did find it all kinds of depressing, granted thats how war is. initely not a mindless slasher, and i agree its nice to not have some deviation from that generic norm of modern movies, but i wouldn't watch it more than twice, i'd much rather read it, books always tell a story better than movies do, they dont necessarily convey emotion better, but ideas and thoughts definetly. the fact that it was in a dialect that im not familiar with doesnt help, i kept getting chunks of french for no reason and it confused me o_0
all in all i agree that it was a good movie, and i definitely need to find an english version of the book.
