I would love to come however I am not sure at what time I will be arriving and also I have to find my friend from ottawa for the room( my cosplay tend to be on the big size *facepalm* so they are hard to carry around.I will try my best to go and will keep checking your journal ^D^

I seen some of your photos! I find them really nice! I would love to have pic taken by you as well however I would rather have other tales of the abyss characters with me since I have no other facial expression except a scary grin. So if you are going to the tales gathering after could I be so bold as to ask you to take some pictures of me with some other tales of the abyss characters? I will pay you in snack

Update:

cannot attend the Tales gathering or my shoot, his group is competing in the Friday Skit Competition, and they have to be in the Green Room at 6 pm sharp.
has replied, and says she'll meet me at the Ball!

This leaves slots #3 & #4 open on my photoshoots time table: [link] I shall put you and the Abyss cosplayers in slot #4, will that be OK? We'll be right besides the main Tales gathering, with less random people around, so that they don't cause distractions in the pictures we'll take. This is important, as it is a "golden rule" of private shoots: "Your pictures should only have cosplayers from the anime/manga/game title they're cosplaying. Any other people in the shot who does not belong to the title can ruin the beauty of the picture." But what we'll be doing is a semi-private one, since we'll be right besides the main gathering.

I found some Abyss photoshoots/gatherings on YouTube:

[link] 2Oq_bp0tFk&fmt=18 This was at Anime Evolution 08. As you can see from the reflection on the window, photographers were holding umbrellas, which meant it was raining. The cosplayers did a lot of silly shots throughout the shoot. Formal shots around 2:55-3:01. (dA mangled the link :\)

Question! Does the Tales gathering have a coordinator? A coordinator is important for the smooth running of a photoshoot. I organize cosplay photoshoots myself, sometimes with groups in excess of 30 people at once, in different places around Montreal.

It has happened numerous times at anime cons that photoshoot didn't turn out great because there wasn't a coordinator to bring and keep people together, tell them what to do, answer questions, address issues that may arise, etc. I had to step in myself as a random coordinator to at least give directions to the shoot and make it less chaotic.

Like once, at CNAnime 08, there were Bleach gatherings on Saturday and Sunday. The one on Saturday disintegrated completely because cosplayers just showed up, not knowing what to do, just standing around, wondering if we're all going to do something together. For the one on Sunday, I volunteered to be both the coordinator and lead photographer. I helped them find a nice spot with good lighting and easy visibility from human traffic. It was a far greater success than Saturday, which was absolutely boring.

And so my second question is: Are you going to be the Tales gathering coordinator at AN? I'm willing to be the lead photographer for the gathering, and perhaps be a secondary coordinator. ~Rawrchu has been my secondary coordinator for my photoshoots in Montreal, and we didn't really had any trouble once everyone was briefed at the beginning of the shoot. I have another private shoot at 8:15 pm on Friday of AN, but that's only with a single cosplayer and is negotiable.

So once again: Is there already a coordinator for the AN Tales gathering, are you that coordinator, and would you need a secondary coordinator like me or ~Rawrchu ?

I didn't meant to coordinate the photoshoot, I just wanted to know if there would be people showing up for it. I had not plan at all to organize it at first. I had some idea for it but since I have no experience I think it would be better that someone else coordinate it. I can just act as a beacon since my cosplay is hard to miss. I was thinking of walking around with a sign till the photoshoot.

I am sure you guys would do a lot better job then me for the photoshoot. Also my cosplay doesn't really help with organizing.(quite hard to see in there) So if you and Rawrchu want to organize it, I would be really greatfull ^^' I can assist if you need me.

I really want this photoshoot to go well and I must admit it was scaring me a little to organize people. I would have done it but I know not everyone would have listened to me(I am also hard to hear from inside my head x.x)

Perhaps having a plan... could be better to run the Tales gathering? I can think of (in order):

- First, a mega group with all cosplayers. Needs a lot of space, but we can make rows of people standing, crouching and lying on the ground. Such as: [link]
- Heroes vs. Villains, like this: [link] but with 2 rows in a "wedge" formation so that it's more camera friendly, like this: [link] The "epic battle". I know villains would be outnumbered, though. XD
- Individual game titles: Symphonia cosplayers with Symphonia cosplayers, Abyss with Abyss, Vesperia with Vesperia, etc. The "dream teams".
- Lead characters: Having a group pose of Lloyd Irving, Luke fon Fabre, Yuri Lowell, etc. All the lead characters together. The "main stars".
- Mixups: Whatever happens next. Random stuff.

All your idea make perfectly sense, although I couldn't have think of them myself ^^' I am sure when the photoshoot will be going that some cosplayer will propose some idea as well.

I never participated in a photoshoot so I never actually anticipated what kind of picture arrised in one. All your idea are so cool ^^ I can't wait for the photoshoot now

Well basically a photoshoot is composed of: 1. Formal shots and 2. Silly shots. Of course we would do the silly shots last, since doing them first would keep everyone from being serious!

So the formal poses would be group & individual shots of the cosplayers in their official stances, along with "canon" pairings and traditional faceoffs. The fooling-around would come last as silly shots, with crazy pairings, cosplayers acting out-of-character, etc. The silly shots are there to make everyone have a good time and walk away happy and satisfied. If we were only doing formal shots, the experience would then be too "dull"...

yes it make sense. I can totally see how hard it would be to coordinate people who are running around giggling. I am sure formal shots tend to be nicer in the end but silly shots are also fun too do ^^

Maybe some photo of characters of one series only would be nice too. But mixing series is also nice. Ah crazy pairing... I have plenty of idea for those XD If I have enought space I will try to bring some misc accessory we could use in shoots(like "life bottle" or gels).

No,I didn't leave the game open - I don't even have a PlayStation to begin with
I saw many times the spell by doing it myself while playing and looking for it in Youtube when I needed to see it once more. I also printed Anise's clothes in a picture from Youtube, and I took Tokunaga details from his High Ougi attack (from Youtube too, before you ask )

Anyway, I was trying to "interpret" the spell, to make my own personal version, as I do in every of my spells in the ”Tales of” Spell Saga . If you would like to see another spell, suggestions are accepted ^_^
