i was in lots of areas in southeast michigan. mostly the rochester/shelby area. lived in waterford and chesterfield for a bit as well. Now, in ohio! I miss Royal Oak. Do they still have a lot of nice stores there, or is it all dying off?

Ahh, I dig. Actually, Royal Oak is still going pretty strong. A few shops have closed up downtown, but other than that everything's still there more or less.

Really impressive gallery, man! I decided to stop by after responding to your comment over on someone else's work.
So where do you shoot your "studio" work at? And what's your light setup look like?
Anyway, glad I decided to take a look. Good work, yo.

Thank you! I stopped by your gallery as well and you've got some phenomenal work!
My studio work is shot just about anywhere. For example, in the shots with the black background, I threw up a black piece of muslin in my living room and used two fluorescent fixtures to light the model in these. The photos of a couple were shot in my friend's living room, mostly so I could use the chair which is in a few of the shots.
As for my lighting, I've got the two fluorescent fixtures, in addition to a strobe setup that I got on ebay not too long ago, a few AC strobes, three umbrellas, and some stands. Apart from that, I've made a few small canvas backdrops which can be seen in the shots.
I'm glad you like my stuff! But now I must ask, what's your setup look like?

My gallery represents two very distinct light setups. I used to work with halogen photofloods and umbrellas exclusively, but have since gotten ahold of four 150 w/s strobes, as well as a couple of 22x28 in. soft boxes. I love using strobes now, and will probably never go back to continuous light. As far as backgrounds, I'm a big fan of seamless paper rolls.
I've been doing a lot of senior portraits and the like lately, and my "studio" is set up in the basement of a local church. It's a really sweet, open space to work in. But it's a real pain in the ass, because I have to put everything up and immediately take everything down for every single shoot. But hey, who am I to complain?

That sounds great! I like the effect of the seamless rolls, especially the yellow color that I saw in a few of your portraits. I'm really loving the rich saturated colors though, they've got me quite envious. Softboxes have me interested in another DIY project, as I think I'd like to make a couple of my own as soon as I can come up with a design.
That open space sounds quite luxurious to be honest heh, I think I could use a place like that too.
