I'm kind of from all over the place, childhood in Auckland, teenage years in Hamilton, young adult in Wellington and now I'm living in the Bay of Plenty (just outside Whakatane). It's a beautiful country in general, though I wasn't a fan of Wellington personally, it felt like it was geared towards people with lots of money (something I've never been) and I found the culture abrasive rather than productive, but overall I think there is a lot of creativity in New Zealand at the moment; we simply lack the national confidence to actual do anything real with it yet, we're still relying on external sources to buoy us up (Hollywood especially, with Lord of the Rings and now The Hobbit). There's certainly a lot of natural splendor though. I take it you're from Lappland? I haven't had the opportunity to visit Northern Europe yet (closest I've been is Holland or Germany), but one day I plan to make it there - my family is descended from Norway.
