i have a problem with my CSS code, something dA upadated changed my CSS code and its doesn't change its size according to what size screen monitor you have

can u help? i need a bit of the code or something to add to the CSS code would u be able to tell me what it is?

so basically on smaller screens on the profile, the journal is cut off on the right side

Perhaps if you split your image into two parts, left and right since both are on the sides. If you are using gruze you can assign one to the extra div .grf-indent and the other to the .gr-body. Then it can be a flexible width skin. Just be sure to position your background left|right for each piece. Then as monitors get wider and thinner, the sides should move with it, rather than as one static image. You may need to fiddle with margins, padding etc to get the exact look you want. And maybe set a min-width and max-width if you do not want it to stretch too far.

I suppose I did phrase that all rather badly. I toook over a day to answer you trying to think how to put it. I'm actually busy with journal commissions at the moment. (only accepting paypal, I'm in need of income) I don't charge for CSS help tho. I don't mind having a look to see if I can explain it better. But I won't be able to do soon

Hey there, I'm fairly new to journal CSS and am having a bit of an issue.

In this journal that I'm working on, the journal title isn't a link for some reason, and I also can't change the color to anything but black. I can't even highlight the text. I'm assuming that this is caused by the fact that I changed the position of .journaltop to absolute, since I've used all the other properties without problems before. Is there anything I can do about this?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

gillianivyart In reply to Binkatong [2012-04-10 10:58:34 +0000 UTC]

For the journal title, DA has changed them to links so you now need to code for the link. Try this:

.gr-top h2 a{
color:inherit!important;
}

Inherit will set it to the color you have for h2. !Important because it needs to override DA's defaults.

Next, I see that the list at the bottom has the bg color issue, this is also something that does not show up in the preview but does on the deviation page of your journal. To fix this, you remove the bg from the list:

.list li{
background:none;
}

Finally, I see your journal is all to the left instead of in the center of the browser. The fix for that centers the journal but not the text or anything. You set the margins on the left and right to auto so that it makes them even. Do this on your .gr-box

.gr-box{
margin:auto;
}

I had no problem highlighting the text. I don't know what that issue would be. And the title was a link when I saw it. I see I'm a little late on replying, so maybe the same issue is gone?

Binkatong In reply to gillianivyart [2012-04-10 11:26:46 +0000 UTC]

Alright, the layout seems to be working for the most part now, thank you. But now there's ANOTHER problem. XP I can't seem to get rid of the white box behind the text in gr-top, or that line that's under it down there. This is my first time working with gruze, so it's probably something really obvious...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

gillianivyart In reply to Binkatong [2012-04-10 11:32:21 +0000 UTC]

Okay, try this as I think it is DA's gruze styles showing through and there is an easy way to clear the defaults.

*{
background:none;
border:none;
padding:0;
margin:0;
}

Put that at the top of your code so there are no conflicts anywhere.

Well, actually, someone at my school suggested that I change the top to relative, then move the journaltext up with the "top" property, but now there's a huge space under the text. :/ I'll try changing it back to absolute and doing all of this, thank you.

Hello!
I was wondering, would you guys have any idea why the big buttons on my profile have underlined text like that?
It happened a while ago, and I assumed dA just must have changed something, but then I realized that other people's didn't have this problem

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

gillianivyart In reply to miontre [2012-03-18 01:25:41 +0000 UTC]

Looks like the green buttons changed? I had noticed a change on my page for some things, so switched which ones I used. Try looking through =somrat 's gallery for custom box alternates that won't do an underline for links.

Does anyone know how big a stamp is supposed to be? I want to make one in the future when I get my tablet but I don't know how big a stamp is supposed to be :/

also, how big is a group icon supposed to be so that it fills up the space for the group icon?

i saw someone else made a stamp template & i asked them how big it was & you can put it on your group for future reference if anyone else asks: 99X56 I wrote it down lol

gillianivyart In reply to MLG-Illustrations [2012-03-06 09:30:20 +0000 UTC]

I think group icons are 100x50. And the stamp is just a few pixels smaller. Not sure of the exact dimension. Do a search for templates.

Oh maybe problem viewing w/ the codes, too. Like I said ma'am, before, this page looks simple, viewable, and easy to understand. We just copy & paste codes w/o a mess. But I noticed some changes like in "XHTML: Limitation Guide", aside from "outgoing link" the codes can't be viewed properly. I'd prefer if the codes or this page would be shown just like before.

Hello there! I'm having a problem viewing some of the codes. Last year when I went here, everything was simple and viewable. But few weeks ago, I noticed some changes & until now I still see the problem in viewing codes. It looks like this: [link] Became messy. I don't know if this problem is in the group or in the browser I'm using (Google Chrome). I just hope this can be fixed. Thank you!

i apologize for another question...how do we go about being able to put a video in a custom box? i dont have premium but my friend does & i want to make a video for her later on & put it in a custom box b/c she wants it on her profile. how do i go about doing this?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sergbel In reply to MLG-Illustrations [2012-03-02 09:54:24 +0000 UTC]

very easy

- create a custom box
- upload video to youtube or vimeo or deviantart
- write this code for youtube:
<da:embed profile="youtube" id="vwBNF7CtvtA" />

where id equals the id of your film on youtube

you can find the id in the url
example: url of my video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwBNF7CtvtA&list=UUXqE4BThcyaQaxqrDg0LYeA&index=6&featurelcp

id of my video vwBNF7CtvtA

If you use vimeo then write like this:
<da:embed profile="vimeo" id="1234567" />

if you have deviantart movie write like this:
<da:embed profile="film" id="vwBNF7CtvtA" />

MagickalMeltdwn In reply to ??? [2012-02-25 20:02:04 +0000 UTC]

Hi. I'm not sure if there's another area here in the group that's made especially for questions or help or anything like that, but I need a little bit of help with custom box css.

Here's the code I have so far:

r />
r>[link] ">iv>iv>
r />r />r />r />v>v>iv>r>r>
ss="gr1">>i>i>ss="gr2"><i>i>i>ss="gr3"><i>i>i>

(text and other content would go here)

iv>iv>iv>iv>lass="gr3 gb">>s="gr2 gb">>s="gr1 gb gb1">i>iv>iv>v>

But I want the "floaty" box that shoes up over my background image to be a little bit wider so all the text inside isn't all squished together. Can anyone help me?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sergbel In reply to MagickalMeltdwn [2012-02-26 09:24:24 +0000 UTC]

don't get what you mean because the floaty-boat width's is dynamic

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MagickalMeltdwn In reply to sergbel [2012-02-26 14:17:18 +0000 UTC]

dynamic?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

gillianivyart In reply to MagickalMeltdwn [2012-02-26 22:57:43 +0000 UTC]

I'm not experienced with playing with the custom boxes much, but maybe the image width? width="200" Perhaps you are limiting it? I think the box gets wider to your browser. Perhaps limiting the image gives you the squishness?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MagickalMeltdwn In reply to gillianivyart [2012-02-27 00:42:41 +0000 UTC]

Oh! actually lol that was part of a code that applied to an image that I took out and it shouldn't be there. It doesn't have anything to do with that.

gillianivyart In reply to MagickalMeltdwn [2012-02-27 01:59:48 +0000 UTC]

Hello,

My group is holding a quick Mini-Contest

Base design is provided in link, with links to other images needed. Improvements on design are allowed but since nessisary items are provided (excluding the actual code and such itself) the contest is short. The deadline is Feb. 18th, 2012.

Thank you!
