They were real living animals at one time... the rabbit was raised for food on an actual farm, and then the pelt was tanned and sold by the farm owner herself. The p.dog was a trapped pest where the trapper decided to sell the pelts instead of wasting the whole animal. The squirrel was also a pest, and the skunk... I'm not sure about. My coyotes were part of an annual population control from the past 2 years, the bobcats were trapped for their furs - but sadly all 3 were rejected from the fur industry and then sold to be mounted or as 'wall hangers.' But I am kind of glad, because I have had a chance to get to 'know' the animals. But the cats were taxidermy mountable so that's how and why I got them. And the foxes were all rejects from the fur industry as well. They were either farm raised/ranched or wild trapped. Their coats weren't good enough, they had holes in their hides, or were missing parts - that is why a lot of DA people can get and buy the furs. It's a sad thing to watch these pelts go to waste when they can be fixed up by a caring person, given new life, be loved and appreciated by ppl. who want to preserve them in-or-close-to their natural form - instead of a gun bag or as a purse or coat. It's also a wonderful way to be able to connect with an animal. A lot of people would never be able to see them, or even ever touch them. I personally used to be totally against it, but when I did my research and found out about the waste AND the art form - I began to appreciate and understand the taxidermy art form - and the soft mount art form that developed from traditional taxidermy, primarily here on DA and basically no where else! I respect you either way, if you appreciate it a little, or even if you kind of don't. Like I said, I was against it for at least 30 years! It is a beautiful art form, but I don't expect everyone to like it. It takes a lot of getting used to. MANY DA people will pick up road killed animals, tan the furs, and do something with them. I really like that, cuz that way the animal isn't forgotten, and isn't rotting on the side of the road.

Anyway, like i say, i love your way and it´s really great work! Keep it up

I do, but they are NOT killed for that purpose. I use fur pelt rejcts from the fur industry. Instead of them being pulled apart for art projects - so they can be appreciated and not thrown away or go to waste in an incinerator. My prices are based on my work, an costs. Not like some who do it for the $.
