Hey! Not ignoring you, just been busy with kids, family, summer stuff in general. I hope your felling better - at least a little bit. I know you asked me if I'd mount ur yotes head, and it would be an honor... but since I've seen Zohns latest(I mean WOW!) - you should ask her how much she'd charge. I have no problem admitting that I think her yotes are better then mine. (at least right now ) Seriously, if I had some spare cash - I'd be asking her to do my latest yote's head!!!(to be mailed to me on Mon. from taxidermist) As far as your comment here- that I am responding to- I think I may just do that! I just need time!! It would be cool to look at them side by side. Where the hell does the time go...jeezzzz, before the kids, I had spare time to do absolutly.....nothing with a side of NOTHING. If you ever want kids, - borrow them. LOL That way you can GIVE THEM BACK when you've had it w/ 'em. Kids are a major buzzkill on your personal life. <8oP

I understand kids are time-suckers lol, (hell just caring for half of my friends makes me not want to have kids haha)
I am feeling better, Ryan and i have been talking a lot recently, takin things slow but im hopeful that things will go well.
I do love her yotes! they are beautiful, I have noted her about it (along with just abour every other person on dA that does taxidermy lol)
my problem is i dont know if i could afford one from her (she hasnt noted me back yet, i know she is very busy)
but yes i plan to wait to have kids until ive done a lot of things i want to do, and i only want one! until then my pets are my kids.
I plan to get into reptiles and form a small collection

Well, if it comes down to it, and you still want me to do ur yotes head, let me know. Tell me what you can afford, and we'll work from there - I enjoy doing it, it's not the $ - but I won't lie- it is an added bonus...lol. I just want you to be happy with the job. I'll be getting my new yote by Wed. and then working on him asap. He'll need ear liners(which I have) and he's mid sized, so that will help me improve. I am just hopeing that I do even better on him then on Salts. If so, Salts may go up for sale. Anyhow, Then you can decide what you wanna do since there are many choices here on DA as well as talent.
I hope you and Ryan just needed some time apart for him to come back to reality and realize he's made a mistake. Some times, time is all that someone needs - and perhaps a little distance so they don't feel smothered as they work things out. 4 years is a long time. Perhaps it's good for you too. Put things into perspective I am glad you are felling a little bit better and that the line of communication is flowing, if even at a snails pace. :hugs:

I honestly cant afford a thing xD itd be an irresponsable blow of money but HEY i rarely blow money on things/myself so i dont feel all that guilty lol
How much do the materials cost altogether?? I wouldnt be upset if he doesnt look perfect, Id like it anyway
Have you ever done an open mouthed one? I think my yotes bottom jaw is useless so i thought maybe something like Zhons yote Jowels [link] would be neat. Maybe if you wanted to experiment doing an open mouthed one this would be a good chance, since im not just a client im a friend and i wont get mad if ya mess it up X3
If you wanna note me about it that may be better than this as well, Um i dont know how much the supplies cost. So if you tell me how much the supplies alone will cost you and how many hours you think youll spend we can work out a good price. I certainly dont want to take advantage of you!
I gtg my dads waiting in the car, so if i forgot anything thats why lol

For the head form, eyes, I assume you need ear liners? A total of 40$ to 45$ with shipping. And that's actual price, no add-on's. Take a look at [link] <-- that's a link to VanDykes. Eyes for yotes range from 6-8 bucks, depending upon ur choice, all szs. are same price and are NICE. That's a rounded up est. ...And the form is up to you. I JUST got a pedestal mount(came with rods even tho I won't use them) for about 25$. They have rug forms that are 11$ and up(again estimated up) I used the best looking one for Salts and Ro-Jo, but I think it's too 'blocky' even after being altered - That's why I got the pedestal one for my just shipped today!-yote. 25$ for the form, but the head looks a LOT better on the ped. form, so I spent the x-tra bucks. I will cut the head off carefully w. a hacksaw. It curves. I've had to do that before for the fox rug shell forms I've used. See it here: [link]
In the order I placed this afternoon I also got these eyes for my cross fox(and got the fox form at the link I just gave you) @
[link] PLUS eyes for my opossum (I'll be making his head form by hand) and these eyes for my new yote: [link] They aren't yote eyes, a little brighter, but basically the same, and in the large pupil. My new yote is very light in color, so I got imaginative. As I did with my cross fox. I DID get reg. red fox eyes too in that order, just in case the green ones don't look right. If I don't used them now, I probably will later on. Just to give you an idea of how much all that cost me, BEFORE shipping (they calculate that later - about 10$ more) it was exactly 55.99$)
1 Black Global Bubble Eyes 11 MM 01301617 $3.35 $3.35
1 Pedestal Red Fox Rug Head Form 01337564 $10.99 $10.99
1 Type 2 Fox Glass Eyes 18 MM 01436802 $5.25 $5.25
1 Coyote Pedestal Form With Rods 01006392 $23.90 $23.90
1 Type 2 Glass Green Cat Eyes 18 MM 01436859 $5.25 $5.25
1 Cheetah Glass Eyes Large Pupil 18 MM 01367300 $7.25 $7.25
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Subtotal: $55.99
Shipping: $0.00
---------
Total: $55.99
I went 2mm larger then suggested, cuz I used the 16mm on the fox form listed above, before, and they just seemed too small. I had to make my silver fox's, (Phillipe) eyes smaller then they should have been to suit the 16mm glass eye size. I think he looks fine, BUT still wish I had gone bigger, so I did- for both my new yote and cross fox, Mr. T this time around. Most of the eye will be hidden anyhow, but I say bigger is better. Looks more natural. And the REAL animal eyes are HUGE, so it only makes sense for me to go bigger. And yotes are bigger then fox's, so why would a fox form and yote form have same mm eyes?!
ANYHOW, I have been wanting to do a jointed jaw on a yote since I did Ro-Jo, so the mouth could be opened and closed some, but I have yet to actually handle the premade jaw sets or see the three sets that have that possibility, first hand, and have no idea how that would work out. Especially once the hide is dry. I am sure I could do it. I would buy one with the jawset installed and then alter it? I'd have to get a higher grade type of clay however, as it will be seen and the stuff I've been using cracks. /. If the yote has a lot of lip-line, I think it would be better. But, who knows? Don't wanna skimp where it matters, you know?
It usually takes me about 6 to 8 hours to mount any head to it's cast. If that helps at all. As far as hydrating the head and ears, I soak it for about 3 hours and check on it every 30mis to make sure there is no slippage, then allow it to drain upside-down for 15 mins, then sit in the fridge over night so tough areas like the nose hydrate well. Usually working on it from 2-3pm to midnight. Kids are out of the way during those hours. If things need to be sewn, turned, mainly the lips and nose, add another 2 hours. I sew even tiny holes, cuz when the hide dries, those holes get bigger and show up if they are in the face area. And I have to pat myself on the back about my sewing. Hakumah my first bobcat was so messed up - I sewed up MAJOR holes by his eyes, ears, and nose and not a single stitch or hole is visable. I'll have to post before and afters of Mr.T too. He was even worse, and he's no even mounted or hydrated yet. (he has no lips and I got a fox face to use the lips from, (thanks to Leopardpaws for that hint) we'll see how that major sewing job will go.) Mr.T is still pretty f'd up by his ears, but I won't sew that 'till he is properly hydrated. And his tan...well, it sux! No stretch at all! I fear mounting him cuz I think his hide will tear up and fall apart, but I'm gonna give it a go. I'll have to post a few pix of the face work I've done on him so far. YIKES.
I am very impatient w. my own plush's - and usually pull the pins too early, but if it were someone elses, the hide will dry out for a week or more and be checked frequently for adjustments, while hanging upside- down.
Oh, CRAP! Something fell - my boys...grrrr...lol, GTG! Talk to you soon!!

Okay that give me a good idea. I will try to get up a hundred bucks for you but i may have to do it in incriments. Or if you would accept 75+ trade items or something.
Ill get a better plan of what id like you to do. Even if the jaw is fixed or there is only a top jaw thats fine but like i said, ill allow you to experiment with him and try something new if you want as long as it doesnt cost me too much extra. Id like for you to be able to use him as a learning experience if you can and do something unique with him.
Hell if i could afford it id have you make him like your poseable cat and put a hinged jaw and all sorts of things! haha but for now i can only afford to mount his face (i want his face mounted before he gets too old, plushing can be done later with much less risk of damaging him)
Heres what ill do, Ill send you the payment upfront (whether it be all cash or cash+trade) Then ill basically let you do whatever you want with him. Ill list of some ideas i like and eyes i like and such like that and then ill just let you do whatever you feel is good for him when you get him.
So if you choose to give him a closed mouth, open mouth, only top jaw, hinged jaw or what its up to you. I encourage you to take risks with him and experiment (this way you wont really be running the risk of ruining something you spent your own money on, you can kinda save money and be able to try something new if you so choose)
so when i give him to you ill basically leave it up to you and give you the artistic freedom. Whatever you feel is worth the pay i give you.
and if you mess him up no worries! It makes it kinda special to have someone i consider a friend rather than just paying all my money to have the most experienced taxidermist do it.
Ill wait til your current planned projects are done with too

Sounds wonderful to me. I think I may add a jawset to my order(it hasn't shipped yet /8-( ) and see what I can do with it. And I'd be happy to do his legs, wired and stuffed like Sakari's. I also did Mr.T's like that - but no spine yet. pic. [link] And it would be my pleasure to do it for 4$ a leg? I LOVE sewing the legs and making them pose-able and I have the materials!! It is sooooo rewarding - I honestly LOVE doing the legs!!! Then, when you get a few bucks you can go to Wal*Mart and get some stuffing(less then 1 bag should do it) and stuff the body as you see fit, sewing up the backside will be simple fpr you, and if I do the legs, the rear hole will be 1/3 the size. Just enough room to put ur whole arm in there.
I REALLY have to work on the spine armature for any animal. The wire is simply to weak or too rigid. As you pose the animal, the wire begins to make an 's' shape or worse, even when surrounded by stuffing - and I hate having to fix it in Sakari. I am gonna go out tomorrow for some framing wood(better knows as door casing) cuz I am putting a shadow box in my wall(long story,...lol) and I intend looking at ALL kinds of materials I can use to make a sturdy, flexable and lightweight spine that doesn't get misplaced. If I figure it out, I'd be happy to put one in ur yote too!! No charge! I'd only need lots of praise...LOL! I have a hidden ego. TeeHee! I'll have to send you pix to ur e-mail when I come up with the spine, (I don't wanna share that info. on DA...lol.) I'll just finish my new yote, at least mounting his head and legs(he is wet tanned, so I don't wanna wait. I have a small fridge/freezer so it really isn't an option) so that I'm back in the swing of things. Then we can talk about "Napoleon?" - That's his name, right? I'm excited!!!!
Mr. T will have to be one of those things that will have to be done when the mood strikes. I'm not in any rush with him. He's a rpyal pain in my ass. And my O'Possum is gonna be an experiment in a bunch of ways, just for fun. He has no legs, but he has a rigid tail. I'm gonna make him faux fur legs with fingers..lol, his head out of kids light weight air drying modeling clay, and go'na soak his tail in some water and fabric softner to see how that works out(he kinda smells bad actually...lol), and wire and stuff it like Sakari's legs so it can grab and hang. I may also wire him. He has a scrotum -LMAO-, and I intend on hydrating THAT and having some fun stuffing it. I may even add some weight to him too, like I did Franky(may even do that with Sakari later on - bis back end is still open) (still laughing to myself about the scrotum) ANYHOW, the possum is gonna be my purse/messenger bag buddy. Franky is too long. I was thinking about adding some really silly stuff too, like a neck bow (if he has a neck) a hat perhaps? I wanna have fun with him. I named him 'Grits'...lol, I only live in TN, not a native, and I can't help but pick on southerners, playfully.
We'll work it out, and as a friend, I'll do my best. I won't experiment, UNLESS I think it will work AND look good. I know ur yote is special to you, any every pelt deserves the dignity. And 100$ is a 100$'s!! $ doesn't come easy, and I promise you'll love him even more when u get him back.

I keep thinking to myself, should I stuff normally, or go a bit larger on the scrotum...LMAO. If I was to take him out and show him off, it might add humor to a situation that may go south. And instead of getting scolded by fur hateRs, they may find humor instead?!!!
YAY!!
Hey, MY yote IS HERE!! Time to see if it was $ well spent!! The box is TINY and light???? 10x6! He's supposed to be wet tanned? Ehhhhhhhhhh?....lol Scary!

OH! It's a female!!! Not terribly disappointed by that, (I prefer males) but BOY did she need major sewing. YIKES. I took pix of before and afters. I stuffed her pretty hard so she has a nice shape as she completely dries out. Oh, yeah, she was pretty stuffed in that tiny box, she must have been air drying before she was shipped. I think the taxidermist said that he was getting prepaired to 'chip' her if I hadn't purchased her. She was barely damp. BUT-BUT-BUT her face is PERFECT!!! Everything is turned out and ready to be mounted. NICE! Her ears had been cut clean through from turning- 3/4 of one ear, and about a 1/4 on the other, but I used thin silk thread and a super thin needle, and they look just dandy now. I slipped in my 'show' ear-liners that I thought I needed for Salts, and OH-BOY!!! A perfect fit! What are the chances? I am tickled pink! She has more ear hair I think, then all my soft mounts combined!! I love it! She is a small one too. I bet Nap. is bigger then she is...lol. I've been calling her 'Jewlie.' Only 37in from tip of nose to end of rump. And she is a LOOKER! She is a sandy tan color, and her fur is Niiiice! One leg is missing a bit of flesh near the armpit, I'll have to see what I can do about that, and she has a few hair mats/matts otherwise, after all that sewing, she is great!! I'll post a few pix soon!!
