Plus it´s ideal for all those old under 500gb hard drives that just take space in your main pc and don´t offer you much but of course you dont want to get rid of them : )

it could used for that, but for now it is still in the testing stages, I plan on using it as a file, print, media, local Unreal tournament 2004 server, and as a local web server. With some backup functionality.

by local web server I assume you mean for testing purposes and not production?

And yeah that sounds good, I tend to use mine just for downloads and media streaming so windows suits me fine, however in your case, maybe look for a linux distro that can handle all those things? (aside from UT2K4, but then you can do a dual boot since you wouldnt be running anything else if you´re running UT2K4 server aniway).

yep, I have WHS 2011 for the OS though, I think I will install a linux distro in my testing rig though so I can learn how to use both.

nope, although I think Microsoft is going to discontinue the windows home server line, so I think it is a good idea, and I've learned how to do server things with the regular ubuntu desktop, but if I do the server, then I'd be able to work on my terminal skills.

Yes they are but only in the sense of selling them to the public, a lot of companies still need to use them for several reasons so I´d be very surprised if updates stop coming anytime soon.

If you want to start with linux server, ubuntu server is fine and all that but the industry standard is Redhat, but most of us use CentOS which is the same, made by the same people, it´s simply a free version with different yet as secure and stable repos, with also a ton of support on the net from the community : )

Yes it was, the only thing it had was Graphics...Game play was a mismash of Story with of Tourney instead of a ladder set up like UTGoY or UT2004. It was a major disappointment.
