I just started... and the way I see it, there's a wide range of how much time people tend to put in to make the whole ship float. Some CVs (like the chat ones) are almost on 24/7. Some of them, like my colleague, is on about once a week due to bad Internet connections. It's hard to say, really. I personally spend about 2-3 hours a day here. Most of my time is taken up by sorting through recent Artisan Craft submissions (that's how I usually find my next DD to feature). And I also receive recommendations from others, which is my next source.
CVs also help to organize site-wide events, promote "official" events and contests. I am planning on a Project Educate week and working on a contest at the moment. Some CVs also work on sorting through and search for what is known as "Miscats" - basically deviations that were placed in the wrong category. There are a lot of them and this takes up quite a bit of time. Some folks also help to weed out spam accounts, too. So... it's a lot of work. But it's rewarding if you want to take the bull by the horns and really call it yours.
