Thanks for the comment. I like your pictures
I'm a New Zealander, but I spent some time living in Sweden a few years ago (in Stockholm). My knowledge of the Swedish language extends about as far as "Hej, hur mΓ₯r du" or something like that... But I absolutely love Sweden and want to get back there sometime. I've got some great photos from there if I can find them amongst my many discs...

You're welcome, and thank you.
Oh really Glad you liked Stockholm, and I'm surprised you visit Sweden of all places, I mean it's not such a "known" country, so how come?
Hej hur mΓ₯r du?
Tack jag mΓ₯r bra (Thanks I'm fine)

My father is a university professor, and he was doing some work at KTH, so the whole family went with him. It definitely has to be one of the countries that I like the most. I read you were from the North... I didn't get to travel very far north when I was there, but from what I've heard its absolutely amazing up there, and apparently, not cold ALL the time . Definitely on my list of places to visit next time.
Yep, that sounds familiar Its a really cool language
.

Wow, it's sounds fun to follow your father to a new country ^^
I'm very glad you liked it. Well, I talked for some while ago with a frenchman, and he thought it always was -30 degrees and no sunlight in northern sweden we have really beautiful summers (and winter, even though I'm not a "winter-person"), and I like the nature. But when I think about the Zeeland nature, I don't even want to compare, becouse New Zeeland looks SO beautiful!!! wish I could visit some time
Haha, of course. Many people think that it sounds like we're about to break up in a song when we speak xD

It was a lot of fun... I really wish I could have stayed. The summer when I was in Sweden was BEAUTIFUL. I loved the snow as well... It never snows where I am - Winter is more like the Swedish Autumn with grey skies and lots of rain. Although I think if I had to live with months and months of snow, my opinion might change . I've uploaded a few of my pictures from my time in Sweden now
.
What I love the most about New Zealand is the variety - we have beaches, mountains, plains, fjords, forests and cities all in a country about the size of England. And like Sweden, there are still plenty of beautiful places that people haven't invaded .
I really like the Swedish language - it sounds so cool! Much better than English . I just wish I could speak it better...

It sounds wonderful! Gah, you would get sick of snow, I mean I like it too, there's nothing but a white Christmas, but it's first in April the spring's coming. The autumn are boring c(; even though all the nice colours.
Yeah, I've seen New Zeeland on the tv, and of course I'm jealous, you've got the hole package But Sweden is very calm... I still love our forests here in the north.
Hah, I think English sounds better, you have better words for everything!

halkyardo In reply to MyZephyr [2008-04-05 07:15:16 +0000 UTC]
Of course, you must have seen a bit of NZ in the Lord of the Rings movies too . Having a white Christmas was a very strange experience for me. I usually go to the beach for Christmas
. In NZ there's a native tree called the Pohutukawa, that grows by the beaches, and it has these amazing red flowers that are at their brightest just around Christmas. There are a lot of them near where I live, and they look really great - some people call them "New Zealand's Christmas Tree".
The calmness of Sweden was just amazing... My family and I spent a lot of time "Free-camping", and found some incredible places hidden away. They were just so peaceful! New Zealand doesn't have anything like AllmΓ€nnsrΓ€tten, so I can't really stay in such peaceful places over here .
I don't like English terribly much... Maybe its just because I'm used to it and know it too well... But I love learning languages, I speak French and a bit of German as well. But Swedish is my favourite

Yeah, their shots of NZ is incredible (+ I love tolkien ^^)
I have some friends who went to thailand or such during christmas, and they were all at the beach Your tree sounds really beautful, wish to experience it some time
(When I'm rich I will travel to NZ
)
You've found the thing that I love most about Sweden .. That's to bad, why is it like that? (Maybe it just is...)
Ah, oui. Je aime langages nouvelle, mais je dΓ©teste grammaire nouvelle.. (I've read some french last year or such...)

halkyardo In reply to MyZephyr [2008-04-05 08:47:29 +0000 UTC]
A few years ago, my family spent 6 weeks camping all over New Zealand and we got to see a lot of the locations that were used in the film, which was really cool . I'll try and find a picture of a pohutukawa for you... I'm sure I've got one somewhere
. And travelling to NZ is an excellent idea
I'm sure you'll love it. When I'm rich I'll get back to Sweden. We could swap countries!
There are some places in NZ that are a little bit like free camping, that are run by the Department of Conservation. They're very basic, and usually hard to get to, but they are still 'campgrounds' and so there are usually one or two other people camping nearby, so its not really the same... I think AllmΓ€nnsrΓ€tten is an excellent idea though... I really wish that NZ had something the same. Its something that's pretty unique to Sweden and Norway, I think...
J'ai appris le Français depuis 6 ans, mais en ce moment, j'ai oublié la plupart de la langue... At one stage, I was very good at French, but it seems that 2 years of not having to use it has been very bad for my memory... Its the same for me... I love learning languages, but the grammar is horrible. That's why I stopped learning German. The grammar scares me...

MyZephyr In reply to halkyardo [2008-04-05 09:01:12 +0000 UTC]
Doh, I'm so jealous! Is anything left from the movie?
Yes please, I would like that ^^, I'm pretty sure I will love it, but it cost a lot lot lot to travel there ;( Yeah, we could!
Okay, well I never thought about it before, taking AllemΓ€nnsrΓ€tten for granted, but it's a good thing now when I'm think about it. It's lovely to just let things are and go away for a while, not far or long, but just go fishing somewhere for example.
I did understand that you had read it for 6 years, but the last line I didn't get ;D I've only read it for 2-3 years at a very low lvl, and now I had forgot the most. I wish I knew many languages, I acutally was close to read Japaneese, (but the class was full). They say that the German grammar is hard, so I believe ya!

There's not much left - most of the sets were added in by computer later. But the scenery was definitely there. There's a book available that shows where everything was filmed. I went to the place where they filmed Hobbiton just recently - the hobbit-holes are still there . That was really cool.
Gah... I miss Sweden >.< It was strange being there... It just felt like I belonged there for some reason. That I was home. I'm trying to find any excuse to get there... When I finish university, I might see if I can do some post-graduate work at a university somewhere on your side of the world . After all, my father knows some important professors
. I don't know how or when I will do it. But I am determined to get back there one day.
I love to get away from the world... I'm a solitary kind of person, and to get the chance to just find somewhere to just think and be alone for a while is great. I used to live out in the country, which was great for that. Now I'm living in Auckland (NZ's biggest city) its a bit harder to get away... I can do it still, but it can't be quite so much the instant decision... I could imagine that up in the north, you've got plenty of open spaces to go to?
My French was probably all wrong anyways so I'll give you a quick translation: I learnt French for 6 years but now I've forgotten most of it.

Yes, I saw a film once how they made LOTR (just 1 cd of .. like 6) and how they actually built Hobbinton, wich is a so sweet and beautiful place
I'm impressed of how much Sweden "affected" you during your visit, and I'm really glad you liked it here. I hope you'll get here somehow, beacuse it sounds like you're really enjoyed it here But I agree with you, Sweden is beautiful in many ways. My grandparents has a (summer) cottage, placed near a beautiful lake, surronded by grandpa's spruce and pine forest, no connection with the "other world", no cellphones, no computers at all. I'm very thankful I've grown up there, since it's so calm and quiet. And yes, we've got PLENTY of open spaces, plenty of forests like grandpa's and so on.
hehe, alright ^^
