Question: is the avatar I'm doing supposed to be . . . what I would be if I got turned into art or what I would *like* to be if I got turned into art? I have a sketch for the first one (it's not very good, but it's not absolutely horrible either and I'll settle for that) but if it's the second, I have to start again. (And don't give me the "you decide" stuff. If I wanted to decide, I wouldn't be asking.

Well, when I think of avatars, I think of those square things by our usernames. They rarely look like us, though some do put up pictures of themselves. I was thinking of something similar. It doesn't have to be representational or anything. In fact, I thought you'd base it off your username (I think you mentioned that). Sorry if my request caused any confusion.

They don't eat humans. Just animals. (You're thinking vegan which, to be fair, is not the same thing).

Well, I didn't mean vegan, actually. But the term "vegetarian" usually implies avoiding meat, human or otherwise, in some way or other. I had visions of a vampire munching on veggies, thinking, "I can't believe we didn't think of this a few thousand years ago!"
So, I guess we could probably call Edward an animalian, except that's probably a word already.

Welllll . . . that's what vegetarian USED to mean, that you would forgo meat. Now, there are all kinds of vegetarians. And they'll usually tell you exactly what kinds of meat they will eat and what they won't. (Some of them will eat fish or eggs or both). So in that sense, that they are avoiding a certain type of meat, they are vegetarian. (It's a very very loose sense of the word . . . like someone who is avoiding beef to eat chicken could, technically, call themselves vegetarian. And some do. -_-).
Thanks for that vision of vampires on veggies. It amuses me greatly and I'll have to add it to your story.
I think we could call Edward a vampire who chooses not to drink human blood (mostly). In that sense, we can safely call him . . . .

Sooooo, in short, you're saying you took advantage of the ambiguity of the term "vegetarian" to make it mean whatever you want it to mean, is that right? In other words, it would be like me saying he was a smurf.
I suppose we could call him a humanist, as opposed to a humanitarian (sort of like a vegeterian, but with more rebellious food).

I suppose we could call him a lot of things. Not all of the terms, however, would be quite right for polite company. (And some of them would not be nice for any company at all!)
