I belong to a number of dollmaking lists as a result of my past forays into making them. I was curious if you belong to any such lists yourself? I've found the dollmaking community to be full of wonderful people from all walks of life who get together and share ideas about dollmaking.
I've belonged to the mailing list at www.dollmaking.org/ almost since their inception. (A number of members are looking to post their work and I keep suggesting here, but so far I don't know if anyone has taken me up on it.)
Our moderator is named Dawn and she's been wonderful about keeping the list up and running all these years.

I used to belong to the dollmakers list. I didnt find it to be encouraging for beginners making edgy dark dolls.
It was 2005-2006 I moved on to a private yahoo group. (Advanced polymer sculpture) that then died around 2009

Really? That's too bad, I've never found them to be anything but encouraging. But I had a lot of things going on in the years you mentioned and I wasn't able to check in to what's going on as often as I'd like. A lot of the folks on the list would like to find someplace to display their dolls to gain a wider audience and possible sale without the hassle of Etsy or starting their own web sites.
As I mentioned I keep trying to get them to sign up here, but I think many are put off by the title, and I'm not clear on DA's policy on sale of hard (non-electronic medium) products. I know of a bjd artist here that sells on Etsy, but again you have the hassle of them again.
Do you have any suggestions for this? May I give the list your site address here so that they may see what sort of doll art that's posted here?

I was lucky in that Pat Kochie and Pat Lillich saw me there. They inspired and encouraged me, they also left that group for APS.
Coming to deviant art was the best for me. I grew a large following quickly.
Art dolls only (ADO) has a group on facebook. I think facebook is where most of the dollmakers are most active.
yes you can share this address. I also have a website Sleetwealth.com but at the moment it only has one page for my bjd.

Thanks, I'll tell them. One other dollmaker from the list has mentioned she was here: marika-spijkers.deviantart.com… She has a great tutorial for making eyes on her website. (I wish I'd known about them when I was making my life-sized Santa. Perhaps then he wouldn't have come out slightly cross-eyed and in need of cataract surgery.)

Your art in unbelievably gorgeous. One of my life goals is now to obtain a piece of art of yours now. Literally took me 0.5 seconds to convince me that you are one of my instant faves. I'm being honest here, I was looking for inspiration and motivation more and more and new artists to inspire me and seeing your work has definitely sparked all my interest. Never stop!

Ah thank you for the reply! Will you make something alike the 18th century anatomie infant ever again?

Sleetwealth In reply to Socklessfuck [2015-10-23 18:49:23 +0000 UTC]
I found a low cost full beveled glass Ormolu.
www.etsy.com/listing/252306008…
This one is not as fancy as the one I used. I sold that for $150. but it depends on your budget.
I reline the inside with nicer quality, contrasting velvet, further age the box and of course add the bones and antique trim.

Socklessfuck In reply to Sleetwealth [2015-10-23 19:15:53 +0000 UTC]
Ah from how much do your prices go for a piece alike the infant? I'm quite lost sorry, couldn't find any 'commission' tag on your page or I'm just blind!
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Sleetwealth In reply to Socklessfuck [2015-10-23 23:12:08 +0000 UTC]
Thats because Im stingy with taking commissions. I really dont need to do it since I can sell whatever I feel like making.
The infant alone I did before around $90 subtrating the cost of the box.
I just got trans Beesputty which is a plastic clay Ive never used before, but Im anxious to try it and a baby would be perfect.but you dont need to do it right now. I can try it out and we can do it again later.

That would be great! Currently I'd have to wait for a moment (since I'm in college and just bought a new phone haha) but I'd really really love to get a tiny infant like that as odd as it sounds

Sleetwealth In reply to Socklessfuck [2015-10-18 17:05:20 +0000 UTC]
yes as a commission. I did enjoy that and I adore the antique medical waxes. I did that for fun and was surprised it sold.. I felt very guilty enjoying making a dead infant! Occasionally I make baby for the sake of study and observation.
The most expensive part of that piece is the ormolu casket the baby is in.

Ive thought of making a set of things for one of those printers drawers. found items too like I did with the baby. Ive got a folder devoted to medical waxes and anatomy studies with the guts hanging out. Someday

Actually getting to my fancier ideas is the hardest thing. heres a link to someone who does it. The difference in mine would be including anatomy studies in wax like clay and probably more morbid themes.www.etsy.com/listing/238741491…

excellent work, Hans Bellmer is not very far sometimes and i love this... your personnal and singular exploitation of this inspiration is very interresting.
Bravo! continuez! et merci beaucoup pour le partage de vos travaux qui nous inspirent à leur tour.

Thank you. This is a strong early influence because in 1985 I saw Bellmers Die Puppe photos in a doll book and fell in love. I was 14 then. I made several little wooden ball jointed dolls inspired by him.

Well, i think people who like the Bellmer's works (like me) are very happy that you have saw this book when you was 14!
I wish you will continue to develop your own singularity, in your excellents works.
Again thanks to share them with us.
