It's like.... I somewhat stare at the poses but then lose all interest in trying to practice drawing them to get used to how the anatomy works. /shot
To me, if it looks doable, it's doable. Haha, I have a dog though, so that definitely comes into how I pose things..
Yep~ XD It allows you to draw a lot more~ I think I'll try to come up with maybe 10 poses in a month... A sketch dump of just circles and lines for body parts, joints, etc.
Me? I somewhat just think about it and sketch. I can't really explain it.. o: But I just somewhat use little shapes to plan out possible poses..

And I know what you mean, practicing shapes and anatomy isn't fun v.v but I've found my anatomy is pretty lousy, especially without references so I just remind myself of that every time I do a practice drawing~
But if you wanna get better you gotta expand, if it doesn't really look doable try it out anyways and you might surprise yourself ^x^ ...or you might fail horribly like I often do X3 either way you learn a little bit more each time <3
And that's awesome too! Keeping up with the basics and doing a sketch dump definitely will improve your anatomy, even though yours looks just fine ^-^
And wow still though you come up with poses in your head which is really impressive, wish I could do that >w< something always ends up looking wrong or really too plain, getting enough detail still confuses me sometimes cause I don't know what's missing x.x ah well, practice practice practice!~

That's one of the reasons I prefer semi-realism, it doesn't have to be -perfect- anatomy, just close enough ^^, If it looks good then you really can call it a style I think~
And I'm getting there with anatomy myself, but I still do that sorta thing and use references to get all the placement and proportions and stuff owo but I need to practice a lot more, maybe I should just start doing full drawings and fixing things as I go along >w> I dunno though, I'm kinda scared of the end result XD
And if you want! It's good to expand your reach and draw different stuff, especially if you enjoy it :3 you draw amazing wolves so I'm sure your style will go nicely with anime humans ^x^
Organizing is nice, keeps track of what you've done and where you could improve I guess ^^, but don't worry, I struggle a lot about waist down with my anthro drawings, humans are tough compared to wolves x.x or maybe it's just cause I've drawn them for longer x3
And I would -love- to do that, draw exactly what you want and how you feel, I get these ideas in my head (especially from music so I know what you mean :3) but I can never really put them into a drawing, not yet anyways v.v still need work~

Ahahaha, I would like to do realism if I could.. But eyes always trip me up.. And you know how when you draw something, you think it's super amazing.. And then like.. a year later, you look back at it, and it's just horrible? That's what happens 100% of the time for my art XD So I never bothered. That's true enough. C:

Well of course it's not gonna look so great when you look back at it, you've gotten better since then! <3 It happens all the time to me, I just look at it as proof that I've improved~
And I'd forgotten about the flip thing owo I just did that with a drawing I'm working on (hoping to complete this one ^x^) and I immediately saw all the anatomy issues and stuff and I'm gonna fix it before continuing :3
And I know -exactly- what you mean, keeping the lines consistent and thin is really hard sometimes, I have to undo and redraw one line so many times before I like how it looks X3 but when it's a sketch those little things aren't so noticeable >w>

Exactly!~ You can draw animals really well, it's actually not that difficult of a transition to humans, basic anatomy structure stuff is all the same :3

Saaame. There's this one meme about songs.. o: I'll go look for it for you. It is pretty much: "make a playlist of your favorite songs, shuffle it, and then sketch for a few minutes to this one song, then move onto the next song and then do the same."
Ugh, yesss v-v It helps if you ask people to help by redlining. I asked a friend not too long ago for help regarding anatomy and that helps a lot. <3

Ahahahaha, for me, it was a long process... I was stuck deciding between UCSD, UCSB, and UCI after I eliminated the other UCs.. And then because UCSB has a better accounting program, I went for it -cough-

I know right? XD When I drew it, it was like the most fantastical thing ever and I was so proud of it, now I look at it and just wonder how I didn't cringe at all the mistakes X3
Oh I have to be sure to remember because this drawing looks -so- much better now that I fixed the anatomy so it looked right both ways <3
Oh and definitely. Sketches have so many extra lines and stuff that there may be mistakes but there are enough lines it looks okay, sorta like when you hear an elementary school choir and it sounds alright with all their voices but together ^^, It's when you try to finalize it that every single dang line has to be perfect otherwise it doesn't look right, it's the only line there o.o,

Yay! Take your time, they only way I get below the shoulders is with a reference, and even then I have trouble x.x and don't worry about hands, you and every single artist who has ever lived struggles with hands at first, I don't know what it is but it's sooo hard to get them to look natural and not fat or disproportionate v.v

Redlining huh? That sounds like an awesome idea!... if I had someone who could redline for me v~v I'm not very active on DA so I don't know -any- artists aside from yourself, which would also explain why I only have 3 watchers |3 I'll try and talk around and stuff over the summer and meet more peoples and hopefully get my name out there ^x^
I haven't yet, only just got the email and letter, should probably go do that instead of goofing around >-> (haha same for me X3)
It wasn't nearly as complicated for me, I got into UCSC, then got into UCSB... and that was it so I went for UCSB and it's science program but also its flexibility in majors :3
I'm going in Undeclared but I'm planning on switching to Physics unless something else catches my attention ^-^

Lucky.. I didn't want such a rigorous school... And I don't have any friends that go to UCSD... v_v My best friend is going to UCI... and then afterward, my other best friend, after having me choose where I wanted to do since she didn't want to influence my decision, says she's going to San Diego College. I only chose UCSB because of the reasons I said before XD

Oh my old drawings were so unnatural looking, the lines were soooo dark and and the fur and stuff was so rigid and weird, not to mention I couldn't draw even the head without a reference >w>

Oh I just look up "pose" and whatnot, there are lots of real life/ basic sketches of different poses that you can use~ :3 And then do what you want with it because I like to draw how I want to draw and don't care what some picture tells me, I am my own artist! *flails*

Not to be a hothead or whatever but all of the Physics classes when I was in Physics were super smart and got crazy high grades... including me XD he was super lenient with grades, you could do test corrections and there was a bunch of extra credit so if you worked at it an A was super easy~ And I was one of the -50- something people who got a 5 on the Physics C: Mechanics test, it was crazy owo;; And this year it's all those people concentrated into the B class so I'm surrounded by braniacs XDD

But you should, when you're starting out it would be pretty silly to try to go in depth if you haven't practiced enough with it yet ^^, once you're satisfied with your sketches I think would be a good time to complete them/work more on them ^w^

I -almost- dropped AP lit this year, but my counselor told me not to so I didn't and now I got Bs both semesters and I should pass the AP test!

Boy I'm just developing mine, let alone improving it o.o, I'm still experimenting with shading though, like I tried using the softer brush for shading and I'm loving it, I just have to improve on how clean it comes out and making it look convincing ^^,
I just finished one gift actually~ That leaves me with around 2 or 3, depending on how quick I can get them finished x.x
As long as they treat me well... and feed me and stuff I'll be fine (that had a double meaning that I hadn't intended but I like it o.o)

For the shading, I think at the darkest places, you can have another darker shade if that makes sense o:
Part of the shading for your fursona goes onto his right eye [left eye from our point of view] but I think the light coming in from the left won't make shadows appear on that part of his face o:

Yeah it's something like that ^^, I use a mix though too, just a normal brush for where the shading goes, and then the soft brush to make the edges look smoother and more realistic.
Finished a second one as well so once I've given the gifts to them I'll post them on DA so everyone else can see cause I haven't posted anything in a while ^^,
