Yeah i visited RISD, and went to NYSSSA which is a great art camp for new yorkers, you should consider checking it out or going. idk if the deadline past or not. My plan is to visit SVA this thursday, then from there i have to set in stone where i'm going, which is such a hard decision! But anyways, your very lucky to have had the opportunity to go to those classes. My dad told me to go on google earth and view CCA cause i'm not visiting, hah.
Feel free to talk to me about anything whether it's help or just a hello, i'm happy to help! not sure what it could be on but it doesn't matter!

I will definitely check out NYSSSA! i applied to risd's summer scholarship thing and they said they'd get back to me by the end of the month, so the tension is mounting! let me know what you think of SVA and what you decide! so scary! hahah

Aww man they have a summer program! Well you'll definitely get in! If not it's a lose to them.
I decided on School of Visual arts! Cal. just seems too scary especially since i'll be in Oakland. Plus in the City i'm in the middle of the art world, where it's at and all. When i visited the SVA's last fine arts building in the west side a couple blocks ahead there's a bunch of Galleries! I didn't go but the guide said they have openings every thrusday with free alcohol and walk ins. But besides that the one teacher i saw seemed really cool, like excited to have students, and doing the art. Also the students who are chill, nice, respectful, do their work, and cool as the guides(two boys, really funny fellows) told us we'll get more chances of getting jobs or help from the teachers. So befriend your teachers. One guy who works in printmaking once worked for Andy Warhol, forgot his name though. I saw senior work, some wasn't as impressive, like it was more abstract and modern then realistic and technical. The paintings i saw were really good, one was a series of paintings of girls holding paper admitting something secret, for example one read "I pee in the shower" or "I miss James." One guide said start making black lists cause if someone is not reliable to you then that's money out of your pocket. He mentioned this cause he wants to be self sufficent and make TV shows with a group of friends with his own studio, and since the art world is so small some will work with one another eventually.
Classes seem small in size, not number of students, although those are pretty small too.
Overall the work didn't seem that great, mediocre, but that's my own aesthetic speaking. One thing scarying me is commuting from my aunts house in Flushing to the City, i'm too use to small town life. Hopefully during the summer i can get some practice in. sorry this is a mouth full.

That's awesome! yeah, that's the only bad rumor i've heard about the school, they sort of let everyone in. People really like it though i have to get over there soon! and yeah, i can't picture myself actually living in the city, even though i spend tons of time down there. but it really is the art mecca of the world and i'm sure you'll love it!

yeah!! I probably only go down there at least 6 times in the year, but mostly with parents who pretty much direct me where i 'm going. I think the scariest part is navigating the subways. :/
But I'll be surrounded by a lot of people i know, like my aunt, cousins, nana and a friend who's going to the school with me. I'll be commuting, not sure if i said that but I'm hoping i find some friends. I'm just so damn excited! Yeah i mean the school is done so I'd suggest going in September-November since there will probably be more kids and art, maybe. Or not, haha. So hows your art doing anything exciting your doing?

I know, the subway will take some getting used to!
i haven't really been doing anything major artwise - i take the advertising design course at CTEC, so that's my only art class. otherwise i'm just drawing in my sketchbook etc.

Very good. It's very commercial oriented, and there's not a lot of talent, but they have AMAZING resources and i just go crazy and waste all their glossy paper and ink and my classmates are super fun. it's turning me into a tiny bit of a design nerd too!

Sweet! ahaha, that sounds like me when i had photo 1, i'd take as many film photos as possible and then take all the paper because it was just too cool to only have 8.
That's good that the classmates are fun, do you know Sam Pezzelo, i know she does design.
I actually have been doing design doodles in my free time. It's really neat to like simplify the things that are so tedious. Like a snow owl, or a baboon.

your very welcome!
Actually could i use fangs as a ref. for a werewolf sculpt i'm doing? it would just be to look at the mouth and growling wrinkling nothing like taking the pose or whatever.

Hey assemblit,
I've not yet gotten a response to my note about the Secret Santa, and just want confirmation that you still intend on going through with your participation. Please let me know by the end of Dec 18th. Thanks!
