i was just wondering, after seeing that your painting is for sale as a print, what way do you go about photographing , saving the image etc.

the reason i ask is because i would like to do the same with my work, but feel the quality of the photo lets the artwork down.

any thoughts???

Hi, I take a high pix photo - most of the time in Raw but not always. It takes me forever to get the image right. There cannot be any reflections from flash so I avoid it - otherwise it alters the paint colours by enhancing. Take the photo in natural light, not too much direct sunshine though. Then I use a tripod to avoid the slightest movement, playing with shutter speed to collect as much crispness and colour of the piece. I upload it to Photoshop and increase the pix to min. of 10,000 keeping dimension true to the original. That's it~ Hope for the best.
Now for really huge pieces as my Lizard Dance, I've taken 4 separate photos and attached (stiched them) them all, even though it's one big piece. I sell copies separately and together as one piece - again true to the original. I've sold huge poster size of that one and it turned out fantastic. You can do the same for other long pieces and stich them together for higher pix. resolution. Let me know if this helps. Cheers!

that is famtastic,just the kind of advice i need.I think i can just about manage to do all that.never done stitching before but i am sure i can work through it using the help dropdown.
