Hi, had to create my own software to render it.

I have a question for you: don't you ever get terrified by what you're creating? It's infinity. It never stops. It's amazing and beautiful, and it scares me a little bit...

dspwhite In reply to nyogu [2009-11-19 07:40:57 +0000 UTC]
Not really. I just kinda get excited I'm more likely to get scared about thinking what's after this life. It's tragic to think what life would be like in 2200, but not actually be around then to see it.

Actually, I find myself hoping sometimes that I won't be around when terrible things happen. I'd really rather die peacefully without encountering all the horribly exciting things that will happen. *grin* Although, it is sad to think that we'll never see 2200...

Wow! Joined this week, four deviations, and you've already a DD!
Your work is amazing, I could probably stare at it for endless hours looking at all the details

Saw your article. Great work! Will this program be commercially available? How much render power does this take? Sorry about the questions, but I'm just curious. Grats on the DD!

Not yet, but it's not out the question. I still need to unify the code more, and add more flexible lighting.
Renders vary according to iteration count, resolution, and number of rays per pixel when raytracing. But it can render good quality images (4000x4000) in as little as 2-4 hours.

amazing work, really
it's looking at images like yours that I fell in love with fractals
I had a look at your site and you really did a great job, so fascinating

read this [link] which also is how I found you
And I have to say, it's somewhat not surprising that the z²+c variant looks as strange as it does.
you could actually see that in the 2D Version:
z²+c only has a mirror symmetry.
z³+c has a double mirror symmetry or so to say, a 2-radial symmetry.
z4+c features the first "true" radial symmetry with three axes.
so, the standard M-set with z²+c basically is a 1-axis radial symmetry which leads to the strange outsider results for that version.
I also have an idea for a different spherical coordinate convertion approach.
It could easily be that this wont lead to any interesting results at all... But who knows?
Instead of theta and phi being multiplied by the same number (z²+c -> r²,2theta,2phi), what's the result if you get the argument of the current complex number in use and interpret theta and phi as the sine and cosine of that angle times 2*pi?
like...
z²+c -> r²,2*pi*2*cos(arg(z)),2*pi*2*sin(arg(z))
I hope, you get the idea...

If that works you're a genius
Post it up to FractalForums.com in the 3D Mandelbrot thread and someone, maybe me, will no doubt give it a go.

Wow.... a 3D mandelbrot? That's pretty impressive. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of software are you using to render those images?
Kudos on the brilliant gallery!

Hi there!
Been a bit overwhelmed after making the front page of Slashdot. I have actually seen your art before (a couple of years ago in fact), and it's really good! Look forward to having a proper look soon.
Anyway, I had to make my own software to render thing.
