Thanks. Well, of course I paint from my head. As in, it's all my imagination. But I have watched a lot of tutorials (or at least, anything I could find). FZDSCHOOL  is a great start if you're looking to create landscapes. Just start from Episode 1 and you'll learn a lot. Aside from that, just learn any kind of fundamentals, like color theory and lighting. Sycra  has videos on both, and a lot of other stuff. And then... just practice, and observe. When I started I spent a lot of time looking at others' paintings on deviantART and I think that inspired and helped me a lot. I still do, just not nearly as much. I dedicated a lot of my time into learning fast. Unfortunately I've been less motivated to learn lately so I don't do that as much. I'm trying to learn more about human anatomy and the figure anyways. I'm not that interested in painting landscapes anymore.

Thanks for the detailed feedback, I'm definatly gonna check out Sycra's "fundamentals" videos and might get the time to do an FZD marathon over half term. In your journal you say how you can't work on something for more than about an hour, this seems strange to me as I never have the endurance to start a new piece so find my self spending ages on the few paintings that I actually get round to doing. Theres always a bit about an hour in where I might get board of the painting I'm doing but after I push through that I can usally get back into it. It's a shame that your not that into landscapes any more but I hope you can rekindle your motivation for art in general .

I'm just fine. I've seen the new stuff you've posted too, just haven't had the time to drop for critique. You're improving, man. I like how you used colors in your latest painting. When I started out all of my pieces were very monotone too, then I just started laying in some basic colors. Your values could do a bit of work though. Have you watched any of Feng Zhu's videos?

yea i know i keep trying to figure out how to do a picture in value and then adding in the color....and yea i know i kinda been happy and also disappointed at the same time with my new work lol im trying to get back into photo shop because i was off it for awhile because I just had my daughter!!! now shes 2 months today haha so been sooo busy but yea ive watch a bunch of his vids but i need to def keep watching more
