I have a valid document to let me stay in the states. The visa is a re-entry document, so if I leave America, I can't return without a valid visa. I can stay here without leaving as long as my I-20 is valid, which just states that I am a student taking classes in a particular program.

No, just an M.Ed. and then off to teach high school physics and chemistry. Third year of EE usually means diving head first into the core courses. I guess circuit design, semiconductors, control systems and signal processing are all looming on the horizon. Good luck.
