I don't think so. I mean, Hoover raked his way up from the bottom of the economic heap, so at least he's respectable in that sense, whereas Bush raked himself from the top of the heap to...pretty much the same spot. Plus Hoover had a majority of almost 10%, not 1%. In my opinion, only 3 presidents ever had mandates: 1)Washington 2)FDR 3)Reagan (sadly). And they all had popular vote majorities bigger than Bush's IQ.

Actually, he really divided people culturally and religiously--he basically said, "If you vote for Kerry, 'dem gays is a gonna 'git married!" Plus he made a pretty big campaign of fear. Now he says he has a mandate, though. 3% is not a freakin' mandate!! FDR had a mandate when he had 24% of the popular and 98% of the electoral!! No Mandate for you!!

I thought that stupid law for the not letting gays get married was so stupid, I hated it. It was like telling people who they can and can't marry! even if they made the law, that's not gonna stop them from being gay, so the problem of every one being gay wasn't gonna be fixed, they just wouldn't marry.
