Hi. I'm... wow, this is bizarre...

I started plans for a (very unrelated) Flash series called Enthalpy in late 2004/early 2005 and registered the projectenthalpy.com domain back in 2006, but only got the actual website up last month (because I'm only now nearly finished with the first episode) and discovered your Enthalpy from the related videos on an announcement for the website I put up on YouTube.

This surprises me greatly because I deliberately chose a title that I would never have expected anything else to use (because why would anyone name a work of fiction after such a term?), much less for a web project involving Flash.

It's far too late for me to change the title, but I don't want confusion about the different series. Then again, I find the still frequent confusion about James Cameron's Avatar and Nickelodeon's Avatar: The Last Airbender pretty funny...

Well, anyway, I'm still rather baffled and unsure of what should happen. I do want to know your feelings on the matter and I hope I don't screw up any plans you have (or vice versa).

LoL Wow that is quite bizarre. I also chose the title Enthalpy because I thought that there's no way another person would choose it for their animation/comic.

Hmm I guess since our projects are really different and appeal to rather different audiences, it won't cause as much confusion as we feared. We could just do what the Avatars did by adding a subtitle to our title? For example yours can be Project Enthalpy and mine can be Enthalpy -Delta H- or something like that. If some kind of huge confusion does occur in the future, we can both post a video & journal to notify the audiences.

I dunno, do you have any suggestions?

I wouldn't worry about it for now. The American Dennis the Menace comic and the unrelated UK Dennis the Menace comic coincidentally started running simultaneously and they turned out OK (though the continental gap doesn't really apply on the Internet like it does to print). But I was thinking of filing for a trademark for the title, and I guess I should hold off on that.

In the mean time, I guess... we'll just keep going as before, and our YouTube videos' related videos sections will probably cross-promote each other due to having the same titles?

Alright sounds good It's true that we can potentially gain more viewers through each other's videos. I briefly read over the info section for your Enthalpy - it's funny that both our comics' main characters are loosely based on ourselves

For the trademark thing... I don't know much about it but if you wish to file for a trademark you can probably go ahead and do that. I had somewhat planned for my Enthalpy to be typed as "EN‡ΔHLPY", so we shouldn't have a problem with overlap =]
