(Can you tell me what's unusual about it? - I'm just curious, because I myself, of course, recognize all the influences in my style and therefore can't find it unusual or unique at all. Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy to hear it looks somehow "distinctive" though.)

First of all I was quite surprised to find out that you use acrylics. I can't imagine taking up an acrylic brush to paint in manga style (my respect).. It surely takes much dedication and effort to figure out how it works. Acrylic paint has it's own character in terms of color and effects and I don't see many anime artists using that media.
Also, the faces you draw have a quite distinctive look to them. And they look semi-realistic. It deviates a little from the 'usual' Japanese anime style I see.

That's what I think.
But I'm only a beginner who still doesn't know enough yet about such things.. Oh, I hope all that made sense..^-^'

I guess I was too young and stupid when my mother buyed me a set with acrylics, so I actually started using them without knowing anything about painting with it .
(Some years later - on another christmas - she did this with oils. Though I'm curious, I haven't touched the paints yet - for years. And I probably never will )

That's alright! I really like your works and I always have to write art essays at school anyway.

And it turned out really well (the acrylics).
But oils?... O__o
They can be nice too though.

Nein, meine Mutter ist keine Künstlerin.
I don't live at home anymore, so she only gets to see a few pictures. She doesn't really kno what I do, which media I use.
Therefore she got me oils instead of a set of Copic Markers or a mechanical pencil or a bunch of rubbers, I guess.
