Thanks for the fav!
I want to say you're incredibly talented in doing 3d modeling.
They're intrinsic and otherworldly O___O

You’re praising me too soon!
Let’s see if this weekend I can finally post something
that can pass muster with this tyrannical critic I have inside!

Nooo I'm not. It's the truth.
Oooh yes, I know 3d takes a long time to make so take your time. XD

Well, your style is a real puzzle to me.

It is very rare to find a “deviant” with such a range of detail and flair,
from a rough doodle like
to your minimalist but very elegant (reminiscent of Beardsley and Erté ),
to the very accomplished and
and the one that I faved:

Ooh I get it now, thank you for the compliment. XD
The different styles isn't intentional... I'm still figuring out digital art (originally traditional) so my style is all over the place. D:
So the realism style is your favorite?
Thank you so much for the explanation with specific examples. I really didn't expect that.

Realism? Well, thank you for that question!
There are those who go overboard in their quest for photo-realism,
but what matters to me is
the aim should be clarity, and for that, you need precision
(like e.g. Milo Manara and Paolo Serpieri ,
or like what you have achieved with several illustrations of yours), and,
Enough to show what you want to show:
could be an exploded line drawing, if what you want to show is the insides of a clock.
If you want to show a city, bird’s eye view, with active inhabitants, then, well,
you’re gonna have to come up with a lot of detail!
Take a look at my CityScape Ref ; e.g. or !

Saved to your computer?
Well, so do I: I’ve saved this entire conversation!
P.S. The Easter weekend passed, and no white smoke yet from my side,
but at least I have a technique that is demonstrably working:
it’s no longer a how? puzzle; it’s a matter of polishing.

You mean ?
Yes, I have to celebrate an artist who actually puts sundry characters
in a street scene (as opposed to empty architecture, no matter how perfectly rendered) !

I'm glad you celebrate that. I do also.

I'm going to start over tomorrow with a clean slate, and try for getting the character transferred to Genesis. At least at that point I have one transfer under my belt and will know how the process works. (Is REALLY hoping I can get it to work.) I'll be looking at your notes and hope they can guide this lost muse where she needs to go.

Llama!
I suppose it is a good place to start.
And your Kerata model is wonderful! It reminds me very much of A Wrinkle in Time.

Thank you, and thank you!
Yes, that WIP of Kerata has become an embarrassment for me:
she is right now my top priority for conversion to G2F, and then some!

Lady-Quantum In reply to ttobserve [2015-09-25 04:52:09 +0000 UTC]
There is nothing to be embarrassed about with her! She is lovely! We don't get such classical versions of mythical creatures these days, so to find an artist with your knack for it is indeed rare.

ttobserve In reply to Lady-Quantum [2015-09-25 06:16:50 +0000 UTC]
Thank you, thank you.
At the time, I was trying to make convincingly wooly curls in various ways,
and I do think I can do that, nowadays;
curls with a material that you’ve never seen before!
Another material that you’ve never seen before is in her hooves!
Hooves that will look fascinating, even in extreme closeup.
Oh, boy; I have an entire writeup on hoof anatomy, histology, physiology.
But, yet another portrait? Not even in full figure, please!
I really, really, want to give her a leading rôle in a “Welcome to Arrinda”
—but that, of course, presupposes that we have at least parts of Arrinda available already!
And more citizens: architecture with not a soul in sight, I find depressing.

Lady-Quantum In reply to ttobserve [2015-09-25 06:27:56 +0000 UTC]
My things aren't nearly as impressive. I'm afraid I haven't learned how to model yet (though I have been told about a new program that may help that) so my endeavors are limited to what I can find, purchase, and then modify to my liking.
Like this big guy:
sta.sh/0olrhc9kun5
I call him a dragon knight. I know, not very creative, but it works for now.

By the way, have you ever gone back to
