I've done it for...wow I think five years now. I've only won twice. Once for the Young Writer's program and once for the adult program two years ago. It's so much fun and I considered doing Camp NaNoWriMo but maybe next chance I will.

Same for me. I didn't discover it until after the first two years (I started in fifth grade) and had been trying for the 50000 each year until then XD I try for it now mostly because I like the huge challenge of it AND high school combined XD

Ah, I see. It was my first year of being homeschooled when I tried the first time. >w> I don't think I would've been able to do NaNoWriMo if I was at my high school. I really love the motivation that NaNo provides. Before participating, I didn't really know how to find it for writing. >w>

It's interesting, but I have a lot of friends who do NaNoWriMo too, and we're all in the same grade/school. We keep each other motivated. I made it to 35,500 last year because of my wonderful friends. ^_^

My family does it, and I spread the word around to my friends. My friend Jessica's family does it too and when we found out that we both knew what it was we kind of just made everyone else around us do it, too. All of my friends are talented writers.
