Two notes. One, I saw The Big Lebowski and I have to say, excellent movie. One of the few that actually kept me guessing throughout the entire thing and wondering what the heck was going on for reasons other than trippy visuals (though it had plenty). In this day and age, I have to respect anything that gets me into that frame of mind. My only problem was that it was a Shaggy Dog Story, and those always bug me just a little bit. Not that it really matters.

Second, I was listening to Regina Spektor's blue lips today when something occurred to me. I pose a task to you friend. Even if you don't really like her kind of music, try listening to that song and envisioning that she is talking about Jack. I think you may find the results surprising.

Now, in regard to Regina Spektor, I have to say I actually like her style quite a lot (surprising, given my historical reactions toward song suggestions). It's actually very fitting for Jack, and quite similar to many of the songs I ascribe to him (I love acoustically sad music, be it "masculine" [skinny puppy] or "feminine" [Loreena McKinnett]). Anyway, enough rambling - thank you for the song suggestion!

I don't know if the song fits him perfectly, but when I looked at it in regards to Jack... It was a much different take on the song than I'd thought about before, and was a little chilling to be honest. -shivers-

That is a wonderful sensation to say the least - my main problem is that my favorite songs are nearly always instrumental, and it is difficult to get others to relate to the song in the way that I do. In that story I was telling you about, for instance, involving Travis Randall, the hero-turned-monstrosity, the music I was obsessed with at the time of the ending was Arvo Part's "Cantus" and Pachelbel's "Canon." The latter is thought of as peaceful or serene, but listening to these two in rotation in combination with the events of the story put me into a major depression. Music and fantasy form a powerful - and sometimes frightening - force of emotion.
