hey how did you learn all of those things about writing? Seems i could learn a thing or two from ya

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Error732 In reply to xXTinTin05Xx [2007-08-07 02:10:06 +0000 UTC]

Things about writing? Like how to make use of excessive prolix, or how to spot trochaic inversions?

A lot of independent reading, in both cases, I'd say.

Hey there.

Well, I decided to finally learn to ride a bike. My mom bought one for herself to use as another means of getting exercise. But like most of the things she buys, it hasn't been used. So I decided now's as good a time as any to learn. I'll let you know how it goes.

Error732 In reply to toxicpoet [2007-08-06 12:40:41 +0000 UTC]

Excellent! Good luck, and wear a helmet.

Remember, the more slowly the bike moves, the harder it will be to balance.

toxicpoet In reply to Error732 [2007-08-07 01:43:35 +0000 UTC]

I went bike riding today.

No, that's not right. Let me rephrase. I attempted to bike ride today.

As soon as I got on the thing it felt incredibly unsafe. Of course, me manually operating anything other than a pencil is generally unsafe.

I just could not get my balance. I kept falling off. Nothing serious, although it was a bit embarrassing when these little kids came by. They just couldn't seem to understand why this big girl didn't know how to ride a bike. One suggested training wheels.

It is definitely harder to balance while going slow. After a while though I did manage to keep my balance long enough to travel for a minute or two, only to find that I had no idea how to stop the thing. You can guess what happened next.

I am happy to say though that I came out of it unscathed, mostly. Nothing was bruised, except well, maybe my ego.

Error732 In reply to toxicpoet [2007-08-07 01:57:42 +0000 UTC]

"Other than a pencil?" What about pens? Do you ever sign checks?

I never used training wheels. Although, when I learned to ride, I was considerably closer to the ground. Be glad that you aren't 6'3" at this point.

A minute on your first try? That's pretty good. Since you're still learning, I hope your bike is small enough for you to straddle comfortably; if your heels can't touch the ground while you're on it, stopping will be hard at first (though, in theory, you should only need your toes).

Glad to hear you didn't break anything.

toxicpoet In reply to Error732 [2007-08-07 04:04:55 +0000 UTC]

Ah, perhaps I should have said writing utensil instead. Although, I have been known to cause damage with a pen. I stabbed someone with one, completely by accident.

6' 3''? You're a foot and a half taller than me.

My heels can touch the ground, so that's good.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Error732 In reply to toxicpoet [2007-08-07 10:24:42 +0000 UTC]

I was stabbed with a mechanical pencil, not by accident. I had to see a doctor to get the lead out.

4'9"? You might be the shortest person I know.

Indeed. I somehow doubt that falling is all that much of a threat, given your height.

Hey!! Someone else thinks you're cute!

Don't you feel like a casanova?

Except... without all the sex.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Error732 In reply to twister8138 [2007-08-01 10:55:04 +0000 UTC]

Exactly like that. Like a fan-girled celebrity that no one recognizes.

Which, you realize, puts you dangerously close to being a fan-girl.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

twister8138 In reply to Error732 [2007-08-01 17:29:21 +0000 UTC]

I'm not a fan-girl!

I don't have posters of you on my wall and I don't squeal at the thought of you and I don't spend my lazy hours fantasizing about candlelit dinners or moonlight strolls.

Occasionally when I'm straightening the grammar books at Barnes and Noble you cross my mind... God, you're right. I'm a fan-girl!

Next stop: Starting the Error732 fan club!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Error732 In reply to twister8138 [2007-08-01 17:47:15 +0000 UTC]

Which makes me a celebrity! Whee!

And, now, my profile is covered in conversation about how pretty I am.

*strokes ego*

twister8138 In reply to Error732 [2007-08-01 19:56:56 +0000 UTC]

Now all you need is some guy to come around:

"Ur hot. I'd like to tap dat. Holla!"

And you'd have to correct it. "It's actually U're not Ur."

And does JaynaTonge mean she's going to join the fan club or that she's going to assist you in stroking your ego?

Because that, my friend, simply does not sound decent.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Error732 In reply to twister8138 [2007-08-01 20:57:18 +0000 UTC]

Hmm. Fan-boys sound somehow less appealing than fan-girls.

Clearly, the dA comment system was not built for three-way conversations. I guess I'll have to ask her.

Well I took pictures today. They'll be posted shortly.

HAHAHA!!

I'm a dork and I watch Jeopardy, right?

The final jeopardy category was "Word Origins"

Something about Gregory XV and his group, whatever. The word meant something like: info used to spread a belief.

"Propaganda?"

The name of the group had the word "propagation" in it, and I was like.

Heck yes!

See, English does help!

Error732 In reply to twister8138 [2007-07-30 23:46:04 +0000 UTC]

Wow, etymology is just that cool.

I'll trade you!

Helium, back in the early days of chemistry, was so-named because astronomers detected its spectral line in the sun and supposed it to be a metal. Thus, Helios, the Greek god of the sun, and -ium, the Latin extension for a metal were combined. This was, of course, a faux-pas, since Greek and Latin naming practices are supposed to be kept separate. Helium should properly have been called Helion or Solium, and even those still suppose it to be a metal.

Now we know!

YOU'VE BEEN HUGGED!

Spread the DA love around!

RULES:
1- You can hug the person who hugged you!
2- You -MUST- hug 6 other people, at least!
3- You should hug them in public! Paste it on their user page!
4- Random hugs are perfectly okay! (and sweet)
5- You should most definitely get started hugging right away!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Error732 In reply to kenyastarflight [2007-07-30 23:39:30 +0000 UTC]

Oh, no!

Can't I just hug one person six times? Can I hug people in person, or does it have to be exclusively online? If I hug you back, does that put us in endless recursion?

These rules are confusing!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

kenyastarflight In reply to Error732 [2007-07-31 04:41:58 +0000 UTC]

You can interpret the rules however you want. You can just hug six friends in person and call it good.

And you don't have to participate if you don't want to. It's completely voluntary.
