I am, although a lack of devices keeps me from posting art. I'm still doing most everything else. I'm also currently shooting a documentary, which takes up significant parts of my attention. I'll have a journal entry about that in the near future.

It's such a vice that we must post it thrice.
You know what's really painful? By my count, this is Emily Blunt's first time doing animation voice over, and something like Harvey Firestein's seventh time playing a woman.

Ahh, sorry about that. I was over visiting my dad, and his internet is kinda bad and slow. Guess when I hit the submit button, the connection freaked out and it got posted three times. I swear, I'm not THAT distraught over the news. lol
This is her first animation voice acting gig, ehh? Shame it has to be towards something like this though. Granted, maybe I shouldn't pass judgment on it so soon, but come on now...

The plot is kinda odd--and a little creepy, put frankly, but similar things were said of Toy Story, so I guess we'll see.

Hey! I found that claymation Pogo cartoon on Youtube and thought you might be interested in it, just in case you've never seen it before (though I imagine you probably have). I plan on watching it myself here soon... yeah, I've heard it doesn't do the comic justice, but I thought it might be an interesting watch, regardless.
(At the very least, I've heard it's better than the Chuck Jones version... though I've never seen that one either, so I've no idea. Either way, this all reminds me that I still need to get out there and check out the comic one of these days. I've only seen snippits here and there on Google Image Search... something I really need to correct one day.)
In any case, here's the link.

This brought back some vague memories. I admit I had no idea that Disney had their grubby distribution mitts all over it. I had forgotten how well-done it is, right down to spot-on lip-sync. It's also far past worthwhile for the sound of Vincent Price using a Southern accent. Thanks!
(I may test my system by posting you a little present for your birthday. Emphasis on "may". Expect it to be grotesquely late.)

I watched it myself soon after (or before, can't remember) I posted that link to it here on your page. I have to agree, I thought it was really well done, too. I'll also admit I quite liked the animation of it, too... it's just a shame you won't see stuff like that anymore nowadays. In a way, it makes this film a real treasure of the past... before CGi brainwashed most folks into thinking it was be-all, end-all solution for everything animation.
In any case, no worries on the Birthday art. Take all the time you need.
Also, before I forget, I have some... "News" I heard about here recently. You know that Tetris movie that's being made? The one nobody understands why it's a thing in the first place and how we all pretty much unanimously believe it's going to be bad? Well, guess what... it's no longer just a film! Why, it's a trilogy of films now!
What happened to the days when a company would release a movie, then allow its success to dictate whether or not it was worth giving a sequel to? I mean, Open Road Films were quite hasty when they announced the sequel to The Nut Job, but at least they waited a week (as far as I recall, anyway). Now we're making trilogies before the film even hits theaters. And that's not even going into the issue of HOW they somehow came up wit enough story to warrant three Tetris films... oh who am I kidding, it's probably half a script stretched across six hours. Someone needs to keep a leash on the guy who gives the greenlight to these projects... he's clearly intoxicated and needs to be stopped.
You think we can insert this movie into a row of other bad movies and have them disappear? Yeah, yeah, bad joke... but if they're allowed to do questionable things, so am I.

Oh, I don't know. As long as studios like Laika, and...other countries...are around, there's hope.

Yes, that's sad. And wait until you see what I post in the movie news snippet for my journal, also regarding "Tetris: The Motion Picture". It's about equally as sad. Really, I suppose we should not underestimate the diabolical capacity of Lawrence Kasnoff. Let's recall, this is the man that brought the world "Foodfight!" I suppose in Hollywood, that's its own resume.
As far as the current marketing mode of film is concerned, it has its ups and downs. You're witnessing the effect of a field that realizes that the bigger money for a film is in video/on-demand. You have a business end that refers to art regularly as "content", and quantity is regarded over quality. Thus the "binge-watching" craze. Look, thousands of years of human history has taught us again and again that even overdosing on a good thing is bad. We don't seem to want to get that, though. There are a few perks here and there in the climate. For instance, Target and Best Buy will give you a gift card for pre-ordering "Zootopia", so that's kinda cool. (Heh...sure you didn't leave for Tumblr because of my sermons??)
Keep an eye out for that movie news.
