Oooh, Asele in this paint style would look perfect! Only thing is that I need to send you the other half of her face (I don't know why, but in my gallery her head is always visible from one side ._.) because the other half looks very different x) I can't tell you how it looks exactly, but I should be home in, like, 8 hours so I'll send you it C: Or if you prefer you can draw Roki, he's way simpler (the roan Andalusian stallion-Ā kio-barbra.deviantart.com/art/ā¦ ) or this crazy Arabian, which I consider taking as my character just don't have name for him/her yet :cĀ kio-barbra.deviantart.com/art/ā¦ but it would be rather hard to paint I think? :>Ā

Ok! ^^ I'll sketch something out later, I think I'll stick to doing Asele since i've got a good idea of what to paint for her

Just to give you heads up though, it took me a week to paint the image I showed you and that was for a close deadline, so it could take anywhere from a week to a month depending on how motivated I am at the time.Ā
So you don't have to rush, if anything take your time! XD

I do know a good technique for doing dappled grey horses, so I might give it a try and paint him/her later too as a gift along with an art trade (though I don't think I'll be doing a full body of them XD probably a bust)

As for the character her name is Ice. I didn't write much down in most of the early artwork I did of her (most of it is in storage) but I do vaguely remember she was protecting something... Like a realm I guess? I also remember she had a calmer demeanour compared to Pandora and tends to be more quiet. I guess she has more of a sense of duty whilst Pandora has a shorter fuze and messes around more. I'm really going off vague memories from 2011 and 2012 though... I really can't wait to see what you're going come up with! Ā Ā

Take your time, Asele is fast but she's not going anywhere :3 If it would help you she's an xo and Hanoverian mix, a dressage one, but young (4 years old) C:Ā
Well, Asele's face is really... different xD You'll see xD And don't worry about plaits, I used to braid my characters, but it's not a must C: (Roki has got really long Andalusian mane, almost to hooves- a little longer than on my chibi drawing, as well as tail, that's why I plait it x) )
I think I may name this Arabian Almase (Al-ma-see), which means Diamond and is a traditional name for Arabian mare... Lol, I think I'm too much in the tradition when it comes to naming horses xD For me Arabian should be named something that have a special meaning in Arabian xD Maybe I'm old fashioned, but when I see all the race oo horses they're named like that or they got lame polish names x_xĀ
I don't know any technique for dapples, I just made a big splash of white on her back and then played with eraser, then I painted some more round dapples, then erase some with large, soft brush on low opacity, then paint some, then erase, then paint... Lots of work xD I should definitely try it again and make her proper ref, as well as for other characters ._.
Uhuhuh, so I guessed her personality right! : D Yay me x3 I'd try to use this information in my half of trade x)
BTW, does your charming evil stallion got a name? I'm still curious what it will be ouo

Now I''m really looking forward to drawing them both XD I cant wait to see what Asele's face looks like! Also I love the idea of Roki having long hair. I haven drawn a horse with really long hair before ^^

I haven't actually named him yet... Normally I use random name generators to look for names and then look up meanings and see if they match the character. I'll probably look one up later.
Yeah, Almase's a great name, I think it really suits her! I normally find that racehorse names here are just huge sentences describing them or French names 0-0, I tend to stick with small meaningful names so I think we're similar in the horse naming department XD
In the past I used a technique that silverglass19 made a tutorial for here . Although you can also use overlay and soft light layers to add dappled effects/colours/marking etc. The technique really does cut down time though. ^^ Although apparently there's are brushes out there that can create the dappling effect. I haven't tried using any though

It also depends on race horse breed, Arabians (marked as oo for short c: ) are named in Arabic, or at least in my country, and the first letter of mother's name is the first letter of foal's name or something like that x3 Complicated system, maybe I will get used to it within some time c:Ā
And I also like this name, it sounds mystic and unique! I looked for it for a while, since I decided to "adopt" this pony :>Ā
I'd just stick to my technique then, I feel more confident I think? It gives me better feel on where to put the dapples and I don't have to trust my scribble-ish hand ._.

Yeah use your creative licence!Ā Ā I really love the design on her face ^^ I'll have to sketch out a pose where you can see her whole face tomorrow (I was finishing off a painting I started a while back and PS crashed on me so I had to restart it DX and then I ended up getting preoccupied re-watching black beauty, which was a bad idea ;_; )Ā
Also I might be going out either tomorrow or the day after for a day trip so that might slow me a bit down XD I'll try to start sketching something before I go if possible
I've never actually heard of that way of naming horses... but it sounds really neat! From what I know most people who own horses here just name them whatever they like, but i'm guessing there must be some sort of naming rules for purebreeds or racehorses/event horses, or they have official paperwork under a different name. I think its great you took time to name your Arabian ^^
I'd stick to whatever technique you find easier to create a dappled effect

I tried once to do an all nighter and I was out of it by half four XD and I could easily sleep though an earthquake!
I've never had a full moon thing... I actually cant remember the last time I looked out at the sky and looked at the moon actually... (I live in the city and I don't really travel at night with it being summer and all)

My father used to call me wolfie when I told him that I can't sleep xD I am sleeping up to 3-4 pm on my summer holidays, but there are 3 nights in a month when I can't sleep at all- night before full moon, full moon and night after. And I think tonight is full moon (I live in small town and the stars and moon and all this things shine right into my room). It looks like another night without sleep, I really need to get used to it xD
Fun fact- at morning I feel like I have slept whole night and I don't even need my morning coffee ._.

Actually it is nice c: And to watch all the colours on clouds during sun rise and set c: Today it was pink with a lot of cobalt blue, it looked marvellous : D And the soft, pale sun rises... And stars all over the night sky... In school year I'm home only for weekends, and during the week I live in big city in dorm and despite the fact that it's one of the most 'forest' big cities in my country the stars are hardly visible... Well, that sucks ._.
