Telling they've broken the rules in a case when they can fix it themselves is a good idea, but not when that only gives them a chance to delete all the evidence. What the heck do you expect her to do when you tell her she could get banned because she's underage?
Lack of evidence = more difficulties getting her banned.

Yet I still fail to see how this warrants the attacks I'm getting. I was doing my part as a rule-abiding member of the community. How I choose to do so is no business of yours. If I hadn't made the girl aware of her error, who's to say she would have understood why she was banned? And who's to say she would have actively sought out reasoning behind her getting banned after the fact? What if she hadn't been a total bitch and could have really contributed something special in a couple years, but she wouldn't have come back because she never understood the reason she was forced to leave was because she was too young at the time?

How would you know that they don't? I've known many people that were banned for things they weren't aware of. Rather stupid things, like coloring a lineart that wasn't theirs without mentioning the source, or using a background that wasn't theirs without mentioning the source, etc. It's not hard to do. Many artists make mistakes. And since most of the people I know personally that frequent the site do so on my recommendation, they come to me for advice on occasion. How many people do you know actually read the terms of service? And how many people do you know that are beginning artists trying to make a name for themselves on the site, and young ones at that? Plenty, I'm sure.

And I highly doubt people were banned for something as simple as not mentioning a source. There's probably more to those situations then that, as only the banned person and the staff would know the whole story.

Not mentioning where you "borrow" someone else's work is considered art theft and worthy of a ban, or at the very least deletion of said work. I've heard of people banned for much less. In many cases, said offenders resort to creating a new account simply to bitch about it in Complaints. And still others are genuinely curious as to the purpose of their ban.

Not mentioning when you got the line art is fine enough grounds for deviation deletion. It is, after all, that second chance you mentioned before, as they (probably) still have the image on their computer, and so can just reupload it with the correct source. No one is ever banned on their first offence with theft. What relevance does this have to the rest of our convo?

I think Mike was trying to say that, if you tell someone that you're reporting them for being underage, they'll hide or remove the evidence. Without proof, then all reports against said person will become invalid.
I see no problem with informing people of the rules if, say... they have recolored or stolen work. They could remove that so the admins don't have to. However, there's no way an underage person can stop being underage. (If you know what I mean.) They (and their parents) should have read the rules, especially the ones that mention COPPA, so they would know that the user would have to wait until they turned 13 to join.
Also, unlike most of the other bans, as soon as the user turns 13, their account will be un-banned and you and all the others can have your lulz when they decide to return.

Yeah, and I'm the bad guy for calling her a brat and pointing out her error. Yes, she did have the right to refuse showing her receipt, but she ran away without explanation and acted like a juvenile afterward. It's no wonder they thought she was a thief. She got what she deserved.

It really doesn't matter. The photos were intended to be erotic. Which makes them against the rules of this site based on the POLICY laid down by the administrators, which is clearly stated in the FAQ that I linked to. This person is not new to this site, they've posted many works here before. So your statement doesn't really apply, does it?
I've reported other and awfully similar works by the same artist (which were removed by the staff, btw) where he even linked to a porno site of his where he sells similar photos.
Defending this person's work, no matter how seemingly tame, is just stupid. Any person with a brain and a sex drive can determine that these photos are meant to arouse. End of story.
