For animals I actually start with the nose cuz I can than put the mouth and the eyes cuz there connected with the nose but for human I start with the shape of the head I hope I helped you if you don't get it tell I'll make it more easy to understand XD

Well it depends on how hard is the picture sometimes it takes me 10 minutes to draw something easy but if it was hard sometimes an hour and a half just to draw XD
