Hey, how are ya? So how is school going? I see you're temporarily homeless. What an adventure. Have you every seen the movie "My side of the Mountain"? I bet you could get some survival tips from that.
I haven't been on here in forever. I'm still at APU, but I'm taking a typography design class at Art Center that's going really well. I'm designing a stencil font called Overspray. I'll post the specimen when its done.
I won't be at APU next fall, though. I've decided to study abroad in Orvieto, Italy. The program focuses on art history (how appropriate). I'll be residing in a convent with nuns and everything. It costs about the same as a semester at APU, so I asked myself...why not!?! It will be nice to get out of the country and take on a more minimalistic way of living.
Also, I'm going to be in an all women's graffiti competition on April 29th. You can find some vague details at <[link] I'll be posting more details on myspace as soon as they give me more info.
Take care and Happy Easter!

i had never seen your work. it's kind of strange because we have a lot of friends/watchers in common.
your work is amazing. i like your mixed media pieces in which found material seem to become precious. i also like your digital work which is pretty rare in my case.

patternsinthestatic In reply to the-Px-corporation [2006-03-29 03:56:48 +0000 UTC]
yeah that's probably because i just started my mixed media craze in September and was late in posting anything. and i remained fairly obscure to the traditional art world until I got a DD in January. Ever since then I've just been exploring further and further into the awesome dA abstract/mixed media/traditional/urban crowd. whenever i get bored i just check the friends list or favorites of someone i admire.
so thanks for the great insightful comments! nothing like a well-thought-out word or two to shed light on my pieces and brighten my day.

Heheh cool, i used to think your name was "pattern kinesthetic" cos i cant read (i actually thought it was that for a few months) until i read you sig
Also, im trying to incorporate some Rauschenberg-style elements in my art final piece which ill be doing on wednesday and thursday next week (although i dont even have a finalised composition yet :/)

patternsinthestatic In reply to Waterish [2006-03-23 00:19:12 +0000 UTC]
haha well i could see that... actually i kinda like that. kinesthetic is a sweet word.
what do you mean you dont have a finalized composition? are you planning it all out before you start? i could never do that. it ruins my whole process. the most i ever do is assemble some possible imagery to use and then start goin for it.

Waterish In reply to patternsinthestatic [2006-03-23 21:27:59 +0000 UTC]
well in the course we need to research artists (mine are rauschenberg and john piper) and do colour and texture studies and build up composition ideas and develop them. if we dont do this, we dont get the marks.
In recreational pieces (or at least the one that ive done) i just get some newspaper clippings, pictures, paint, paper towels, paint and a canvas and just do whatever. I had a slight idea on the one ive done, but this changed constantly throughout so the outcome was very different to how i imagined it at the start.
