hey, you understoof it pretty well yeah, "geht" is almost the same like " are...doing" in how are you doing. literally it would be the same as "goes"
and "bist" is a form of "be"
I am - Ich bin
you are - du bist
he/she/it is - er/sie/es ist
we are - wir sind
you are - ihr seid
they are - sie sind (watch out, it's the same like in third person, but different meaning)
and for building questions you simply turn them. "bist du..." is "are you..." hope I could help you

*laughs* it's not "ich bin gut" but "Mir geht es gut" "ich bin gut" would be meant in a way of status, you'd say that If I ask you if you are good in some special disciplane. If I ask you "are you good in art" (bist du gut in kunst?) you would reply that (ja, ich bin gut)
and for the money, yeah, it's really bad with these costs *g* I seem to throw my money out the window. the problem is you don't give your money away in the moment of surfing
