Oh sorry. I guess I'm not supposed to judge people. But you're so young and your work is so... so... How shall I put this. Monotonous. Boring. Repetitive. So not new. I'm not saying mine is, I'm just saying yours isn't.

LOL Don't worry about it.. I actually just post this as a rant account.. its not what i usually do.. I photograph stuff and am very "techy" with my art.. I've done space art etc... but eh lately

Here's the trick, though - if your source composition "just ain't there," the method won't be so helpful. (I.e., sometimes there's just no overcoming a lackluster composition.) But if you've got a shot that seems interesting to you, but not up to its full potential, then yes, exactly, looking through the channels might help you find exactly what's already gotten your attention.
Part of the benefit, too, is just peeling the color away for the moment - oftenttimes color will actually conceal the compositional rightness or wrongness of an image. Looking at the greyscales will help the image reveal itself more "plainly." It's the first thing I do now, as soon as I even consider working on an image.
Keep me posted if you like. I'll be intrigued if it works out well for you, or if I can offer more assistance.
