Ah, I opted to download the entire opera first but I'll keep my eyes open for the blue fellow while I watch it

It's not long, only three acts. In fact, I can link you to all of them, but the subtitles are in Italian. Hmm...
I can also send you the wikipedia page so you get an idea of what's going on.

Great Jove! Are they really?? XP I went and downloaded all three acts under the assumption that the subtitles were all in english D'oh! Well, I don't suspect this will diminish my experience to any great degree.

Here's some information on the opera: [link]
The plot is very short and the opera itself is very short, but the music is incredibly enjoyable, and what's even more amazing is that Mozart was only eleven when he composed it. I mean, I'd heard he was about that age when he first composed operas, but to actually HEAR it is incredible.

HAHAHAHA oh my God I've never seen this meme before but it's hilarious! Oh, what you must think of me! I loved the narration.

Haha well I'm trying to cut down on swearing. I think I've cursed maybe twice around you, because I was extremely conscious of it. For some reason I don't want to curse around you.

My nintendofile companions were all in a twist about this meme back in high school(although I suppose that wasn't too long ago). Oh, I'm not a snob or anything(I enjoy low-brow humor and obscenities on occasion), but I never found that sort amusing.

No more potty-mouth for Paula? XD You did? I didn't hear a thing XP Oh, I wouldn't mind if you swore around me(i just don't swear much myself).

Well, I'm trying to cut down as it is, so I doubt you'll be hearing much from me, but normally I work them in as parts of my everyday vocabulary. That just means I'm getting unimaginative, I guess. So anyway, it's got to stop.

I was a tad hesitant to venture into that territory(since Alan Lee pretty much defined the series), but I figured there were some scenes that hadn't been translated yet and were therefore 'free game' XP

Come now, I have an entire folder devoted to orignal art! (the grasshopper one) It just rarely gets any attention.

Paintings? I paint each in about fifteen minutes so I often upload them en masse

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

lucas-irineu In reply to theintrovert [2012-07-16 06:24:19 +0000 UTC]

I usually forget to check folders, but I did see those pieces while running through your gallery!

And wow. You're fast, dude. Hahaha. You should use that speed, and come up with some comic with your awesome watercolor work.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

theintrovert In reply to lucas-irineu [2012-07-17 06:57:13 +0000 UTC]

Mind your footing on those older pieces XP Quite embarrassing in comparison to the recent ones.

Were I to colour my graphic novels, I think I'd cave and use photoshop(just because it's cleaner and less time consuming).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

lucas-irineu In reply to theintrovert [2012-07-17 16:23:24 +0000 UTC]

Hm, didn't mean to send that yet.

Anyway, you don't have any photoshop pieces on your gallery, right?

Though you know, watercolors can look really good on comics some times. It depends on the comic, but it could really make it stand out. These days everything is done on photoshop, and most people just go for the same boring old style. It's nice when someone does something differently.

Also, your signature. The Princess Bride. Best movie ever.

theintrovert In reply to lucas-irineu [2012-07-18 05:32:15 +0000 UTC]

Well...I think I may have one or two somewhere in there: That Secret of Kells gif was created digitally(but that's only because I didn't want to construct another improvised light table to animate it traditionally).

Definitely! Take The Dark Knight Returns, for instance. However, it's terribly difficult to maintain consistency of colour when you use watercolours(at least, for me it is). Especially when you're striving to get that one skin color juuuust right. Of course, I agree with you that no matter how digital art attempts to ape traditional, it often winds up looking similar to most other digital pieces.

The greatest fairytale satire ever told

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

lucas-irineu In reply to theintrovert [2012-07-18 05:48:40 +0000 UTC]

Other great traditionally drawn comics I know are Lucifer: Nirvana, and "The Horrorist", which's a Hellblazer one shot.
[link]
[link]

But yeah, keeping tones consistent is really hard... And man, skin tones in watercolors. I tried twice with limited results, and those were one of the biggest reasons why I haven't touched them in a while. As a colorblind person, I have no fucking idea when it really looks right, and what looks right to me is often green for other people. So in the end I just said, "Fuck it, I'll go back to Photoshop, where I can check the RGB values whenever I'm in doubt."

Found another Mozart opera you might like! This is Die EntfΓΌhrung Aus Dem Serail (Abduction from the Seraglio), a singspiel, like The Magic Flute, meaning there are spoken parts between songs. It's much shorter than Le Nozze di Figaro, and I hope you enjoy it.

I've not heard of that particular piece Leave it to Paula to pluck such gems from Wolfgang's more obscure library. I still have yet to sit down to The Magic Flute(having only heard segments of it from Amadeus), but I suppose I'll have at this one first. Thank you!

Haha loved the Squidward pic! Oh, for The Magic Flute, I highly recommend this performance: [link]
This is the best I've seen so far. Diana Damrau is absolutely terrifying as the Queen of the Night, and she is hands down the best queen I've seen thus far. Simon Keenlyside is also ADORABLE as Papageno, portraying the character in a slightly sad way as opposed to the usual chipper treatment he gets. This is also a rather recent performance, and I don't really think it matters what order you watch them in, Serail or Flute, but if you watch Serail first you'll see what Mozart was doing towards the beginning of his career and then perhaps ten years later he's doing The Magic Flute, his very last opera before his death. He in fact died before a year passed after its premiere, when it had performed over one hundred times! After his death, his best friend Emmanuel Schikaneder, who wrote the story for The Magic Flute and in fact played the first ever Papageno (and was the one to come up with the idea of Papageno being so astonished he sings "Pa-pa-pa" in that extremely famous duet between him and Papagena), donated the proceeds to Mozart's family. Mozart admitted on his death bed that he seriously regretted leaving his family in this sort of financial situation.

Anyway, that's that, I have a billion other things to say about it, but I won't. Enjoy this performance, no time limit, whatevs, enjoy.

Can you please draw Mako and Korra from "Legend of Korra" together as a couple?

What would you like for me to draw for in return?

I suppose I lied about the wait: I finished my end of the trade yesterday amidst other projects.

Where was that GIF culled from? I watched the premiere online and that scene never surfaced.

I'm not too sure... What about Mako's lascivious brother,Β Bolin?
