Ok, thanks for ALL the faves. I'm way behind in thanking people for faving, so I'm trying to catch up and missing how many pieces some people did fave.

And as for Fudd's Folly, I've thought about it. A big part of it was just seeing how many girls I could get into one scene. Where it started choking on me was all the transparencies for the plants and the hair. Not sure if that makes sense to you at all, but basically instead of building hair with each strand as a separate model combined together it's all done as a solid clump, then a transparency map is added to make the places between the strands invisible. Outlines of leaves and stuff are done similarly. These transparency maps are the biggest terrors when it comes to trying to render because they are the biggest reason for a render to fail. Basically the renderer tries to figure out what you can see through a transparency map and too many of them cause data crash.

But it would be interesting to see if my quad, especially with the NEW DAZ4.8 engine, can manage the scene better.

...how many girls I could get into one scene...

V4-based?
If so, don’t forget that V4 [circa 75K vertices?]
came with several reduced Levels of Detail.
In a scene such as your Fudd’s Folly,
no one would notice the difference if you used the 17K LOD!

I actually only use trusty old Aiko3, not sure how many poly's/vertices she has. If I'd used V4/A4 it would have been only a couple of them I'm sure, especially since I only have about four character morphs/skins for V4. I'm currently trying to do a space pirates series using every single Aiko3 morph/skin I have, though I'm throwing a few extra's in from V3 and H3 and a few modified duplicates of some A3 characters.

Remarkably, Genesis 3 has just been released,
with a lot more bones, but only 17K vertices!
Maybe a bandwagon worth jumping onto?

I just got the notice from DAZ about Victoria7. They haven't even really started with Micheal6 variants to Gen2 male, and they are already replacing Victoria6. I am suddenly extremely glad I haven't purchased any V6 stuff. One of the reasons I'm still using Aiko3 is because I have gigs of costumes and character stuff for her already built up over the eight years I've been using her. As much as I'd love to see what can be done with the new model, I don't really have the funds to invest. G2 male and female are only about six months old, it's far far too soon for G3.

Ha! I had been dragging my heels on buying fresh muscle morphs,
given the fact that I had them (and other morph packages) for V4,
until last week I caved in and bought two packages for G2F —then suddenly— G3F!!

Oh, well; at least, her base is free.

I've been working with the new rendering engine a bit, need to get 4.8 installed though. I put together a picture involving a girl inside a glass vase where I used a true reflection setting to pull reflections from the room at large, but my trusty old 2.3 engine couldn't hack it. 4.6 renders it in under an hour.

One change you’ll notice immediately, going from 4.6 to 4.8, is how much better
the textured 3D view (Viewport) looks: just look at the default figure’s toenails!

And, with 4.8, you can export Collada in a way that Blender understands.

WickedPrince In reply to ttobserve [2015-06-26 04:50:43 +0000 UTC]

I have no idea what "collada" is, but I'll take your word for it. BTW, if you know your way around modeling tools, could you make an Eldar Shuriken Pistol? www.google.com/search?q=eldar+… ; I am trying to build an Eldar Howling Banshee for me Star Pirates series, but the only 3D models of Eldar stuff I have been able to find are unreachable because the site is down and the author isn't answering hails.

You like this one? [From warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Sh… ]

Collada is a cross-industry standard for CG data,
that includes rigged and textured figures.
I’m doing some heavy lifting right now, in DAZ Studio,
the end product of which I expect to be characters posed along a timeline.
Said pose sequence I can pick up in Blender, and continue from there.

Sounds interesting. Give me a shout out when you have some of it posted.

Like the smaller weapon here: warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Sh…   Oddly enough since the pistol is more often used by the troops I've seen, that it doesn't have it's own page in the W40K wiki.

Your  ; right!

Not only is your modeling detailed and convincing,
but I celebrate the fact that you have lots of people in your urban scene!

I find it so frustrating to see beautifully rendered architecture
with not a soul in sight, not even a cat!

Many thanks for the on Your First Trip to Torei
Your first view of Torei from space is a bit of a disappointment, all told.  You suppose you've seen realistic images before, but the picture of the planet in everyone's heads is the stylized diagram used for their celestial ensign: a grey globe circled by a green sash at the equator, black ziggurats sprouting clouds from the poles.
Whenever someone spots the image above a starport berth, wild tales fill the corridors and canteens.  The Toreans have no shipyards of their own, and the sight of their flag on a second-hand haulier or cruise vessel is often the only hint that anything may be different within.  You always hear one or two maintenance techs swearing oaths that they serviced it and saw a brothel of chattel slaves inside, or customs clerks confiding that one entry on the manifest is code for human cargo.
In the years you've been starfaring, you began to think of the planet itself as a bit of a tall tale in its own right.  That's why you'r!

My gallery is a work-in-progress, still very scant,

yet I’m not idle, even if it seems that way,

but I have an internal critic who expects better,

even if that forces me to wrestle with Python and stuff.

Thank you for your vote of confidence!

There is much to like about that bridge scene of yours:
it’s well rendered, detailed, bright (as opposed to gloomy),

and foremost, it shows inhabitants!
Perhaps, some day, you might mix in some otherworldly inhabitants?

E.g.  or
