Why thank you very kindly, but all praise should go to the artists from whom I commissioned these illustrations; I merely sent in a few descriptions and a little bit of money.

"They made four nails to use in the crucifixion. One for each of Jesus' hands, one for his feet. The fourth was made of gold, and it was for his heart. On the night before the crucifixion, a Gypsy boy stole the golden nail. So they crucified Jesus with only three. When it was over, God came to the Gypsy boy and told him that his theft had saved Jesus from the pain of a nail in the heart. To repay him, God gave the gypsies the right to steal without moral consequence. Stealing from gypsies, however, will f*ck you inside and out."
Now apply that concept to Victor Von Doom and see if conquest can be a good equivalent to theft in such situations.

A remarkably colourful story, but I doubt Victor Von Doom deigns to believe in any God greater than himself!

Well I do my best to read widely and that is an excellent way of uncovering new words, as well as studying different writing styles; I also keep a jotter where my thoughts can be noted down as they occur to me and this is an excellent way of developing the ability to write fluently; I am also entirely shameless in my fondness for communicating in as fancy a style as my talent can support!
Thank You most kindly for the compliment of describing my style of expression as Poetic!

Do you think that the Cosmic subgenre of Supers could use more relatively contemporary sci-fi trappings?
Y'know, technological singularities, megastructures, etc?
Less Doc Smith, more Iain M. Banks & Alistair Reynolds?

Libra1010 In reply to Voltron64 [2017-08-15 13:31:17 +0000 UTC]
That depends on what sort of story you want to tell and perhaps still more upon what sort of Setting one wants to build: include too many contemporary elements and readers will tend to find the Galaxy a more familiar, reassuring place but will also tend to see it as not THAT much more advanced than our own.
Though heaven knows we seem to be living in a Sci-Fi setting already, so throwing the odd element of the Present Day into Cosmic Adventure would not leave it feeling entirely out of place!

Going off of your hypothetical casting choices, Libra. I've got one to throw by you.
Iain Glen as Sean Cassidy/Banshee and Aidan Gillen as Black Tom.

I can only plead relative ignorance of both characters, but if Iain Glen wants in then I'm brave enough to defy what one presumes to be a Legion of lusting fans the spectacle of that handsome fellow ...

Some New World of Darkness historical setting ideas to throw by you.
1. A Changeling the Lost game set in Prohibition-era NYC.
2. A Werewolf the Forsaken game set in the American Southwest (either California, Arizona, Nevada, or New Mexico in particular) during the Fifties. Total Nostalgic B-Movie vibe going on there.

Libra1010 In reply to Voltron64 [2017-07-13 18:38:17 +0000 UTC]
I'm not very well-acquainted with CHANGELING THE LOST (and only slightly better-acquainted with WEREWOLF THE FORSAKEN) but I can definitely see the psychological crises of the years just after the Atomic Age began - especially after the USSR detonated its first Atomic Bomb in 1949 - could certainly be a fascinating period during which to set a "New WEREWOLF" campaign: if nothing else the "Atomic Horror" is likely to have a serious impact on the Spirit World and the sheer paranoia of the period would likely it even more dangerous than normal for an Uratha pack to operate.
Given the sort of weirdness those werewolves perpetuate one can expect seriously unfriendly attention from MIB types.

Voltron64 In reply to Libra1010 [2017-07-13 23:01:44 +0000 UTC]
Exactly, I was figuring plenty of Atomic Horror-inspired antagonistic spirits.
Mostly it was for the mental image of a stereotypical teenage couple at Makeout Point who first encounter the nasties with the twist of the young lovebirds being Uratha.

Now that is a rather good idea - might I suggest you also borrow from the Biblical Epics and Westerns of the 50s to inspire your depiction of the Spirit World in that era? (It occurs to me that a clash between "Old Frontier" and "Hollywood Western" spirits might be a pretty interesting sight to behold).
