well, I slept for 4 hours last night, and then I spent all the time I was awake trying to go back to sleep, and then I slept for 4 more hours and woke up at 12:30
and then I kept forgetting to take my devil medicine so that happened like 30 minutes ago
so, ya know, doin' pretty garbagey rn
I mean, the side effects are definitely not as bad as before, but they were really bad before
so now, I don't feel like I'm dying, but I feel like I'm sick
and I look like I'm dying
but I always look like I'm dying, so it's whatever
nbd, I'm just gonna lay here until I feel like I can stand up without passing out
anyway, how's your clarinet, did you tell it that you love it today?
wind instruments need more love and affection than most other instruments 'cause everyone thinks they're gross

I feel ya, during concert week in band, a girl got a few people sick, including myself
well I still need to practice on that bad boy so if she plays nicely, I will xD
And hey, there are some pretty cool wind instruments

I remember I was horribly sick on the day of my last concert in 8th grade, but it was my last concert and I was the only trumpet player, so I couldn't miss it
but I was coughing and sniffling throughout the entire thing and everyone kept telling me that I looked like I was dying and they were yelling at me to go home :I
I was kinda hoping that this ADD medication I'm taking would give me more energy because most days I don't practice my trumpet because I'm too tired and it's a freakin' exercise
but no
I'm dying
so I haven't played in like a week and I'm so stressed out about it because I need to work on my endurance and not playing everyday is the perfect day to not have any endurance at all ._.
but like... naw fam, wind instruments is n-n-n-nasty
the fact that brass instruments have a water key (or as I like to call it, "the spit faucet") is disgusting and you have to keep emptying it out and then you have "brass pee" all over the floor and it's gross
it's really gross
but I was freakin' mortified one day when we were tuning and the instructor told one of the clarinets that "there's too much spit in your reed" so they had to SUCK. IT. OUT.
that was the worst
I could have died
and one of my friends, being the flute player that she is, was telling me how flutes are the only wind instrument that isn't horribly disgusting because they don't have spit in them, it's just water
and then she proceeded to take her head joint off and shake the "water" out of her flute and onto me and I was like FELICIA, NO, THAT IS NOT HOW THIS WORKS. YEA SOME OF IT IS WATER, BUST YOU STILL BLOW YO HOT BREATH INTO IT AND MOUTH AIR IS MOIST WITH SALIVA, SO IT CONDENSATES ON THE INSIDE OF THE FLUTE YA NASTY!
that was horrible
but other than hearing the sound of a clarinet player suck the spit out or their reed, I think the worst spit experience was seeing a french horn pull out one of their slides and then dump out like have a cup of wet nasty on the floor

And yeah, the spit valve for you guys is gross o^o
And that's not possible wit' the clarinet. The reed gets moist but water doesn't build up in it. Well it sometimes builds up on the outside butttt if that happens I just lick it off xD
But clarinets can have spit that casually drips out the bell and you don't even notice it until you step in it xD
I think the cleanest is the flute tho, like they don't have to stick their mouth on that little hole thing though xD

we always liked to joke about how it's called a "water key" when it's clearly just spit
BUT OH MY LORD, LET ME TELL YOU
so, in marching band the trumpets have to hold their instruments 10 degrees above parallel which sucks and I hate it and it's hard
but when it gets cold outside (and you got nobody to love), more water collects in the instrument and then your spit decides that it wants to come back home and there's nothing you can do because this is marching band and marching band means "I don't care about your feelings, keep in step, memorize your music, and don't ever, EVER do anything that would single you out from the rest of the band"
so you just gotta conceal, don't feel, don't let them know and it's horrible and I wouldn't even want to open my mouth to breath because I didn't want my spit to go back into my mouth
but I was afraid that it was only happening to me because no one ever talked about this horrible horrible thing, so one day I brought it up with one of my friends and he was like "OH MY GOD, YES, AND THEN YOUR SPIT JUST DRIPS DOWN YOUR CHIN AND THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO AND IT'S SO GROSS"
so yea
there's that
but yea, flutes are definitely the least horribly disgusting, but there's still spit involved and I don't like spit ._.

I cried 3 times at my first band camp because I suck at marching and our band director is really mean ;w;
we constantly joke about how he makes little girls cry
it's funny because it's true ._.
I remember for our sectional skits we had a part where we got the shortest freshman in the trumpet section to get on his knees and be Mr. Newman
and, of course, he awkwardly waddled on stage and aggressively screamed at two girls until they "cried"
it was pretty great ._.
but like, even though he was like the most docile, smol trumpet child, he was like perfect for the role because he legit looks like a baby Newman ._.
I don't understand how two people can have the same outrageously dazzling blue eyes ._.
it's unfair really...
I hope you guys do sectional skits
they're really awkward and you're gonna be uncomfortable
but you just have to embrace it
because they're great ._.

my band director is short trumpet player with a Napoleon complex
he has no choice but to be mean and narcissistic ._.
and he would yell at me a lot for playing too loud, but then he also yell at the rest of the trumpet section for not playing loud enough ;u;
but sometimes he'd complement me
one time he called me a "work horse" because I clearly put in time to learn my music and practice and have a good tone
but I never practice
and when I do it's like for 5 minutes
so I felt like I little piece of garbage 'cause I was the best for no reason :'D
he does torture us though, you're right ._.

my band director would say we sound, march, or look like feces ._.
one time he told me that I needed to stop sounding like an angry raccoon
and he yelled at me for playing too loud at almost every rehearsal before a concert because "it's not the Nikki show"
but they'd always give us music that made the trumpets stand out
and since none of the other trumpets wanna play out
then I guess it is the Nikki show ._.

And my bands the same way, we have 2 seriously sucky trumpets and about 3 or 4 good ones, and one of the bad ones loves playing loud though he sucks and everyone in the band gets mad :,D

I feel like it's much better to be told to play softer as a trumpeter than it is to be told that you're never playing loud enough

I've only heard the brass section to play louder like 3 times :'D
Most of the time it's "woodwinds play louder, brass get quiet" xD
But like there's this one song where me and this one girl play the lowest notes in the part of the song, and he's like "you have the lowest notes, you have to play out louder for a cool melody c:" and we're like "mkay, we, 2 of us, will try to play loud enough so we sound even with about 4 clarinets and an overabundance of flutes :'V"

I remember in middle school there was like 60 people in our band and in 8th grade I was the only trumpet player (there were two others at the beginning of the year, but one never played ever because he sucked and then both of them dropped out)
but still
somehow...
somehow I was too loud
I just couldn't keep my self from playing over the 60 other people in the band
how was I louder than the entire low brass section ._.

they were too soft
but I think maybe they just were strong enough players to play forte ever
and by that I mean they sucked
our trombones were garbage ._.
