actually my slower machines do run debian
but my better boxen run gentoo i have 2 gentoo servers and one debian quake server works greeattt on a 233 with 80 mgs of ram runnin all the nice maps i took it to a lan a while back ran GREAT damn small linux

Concerning your problem: Do the different versions of the GIMP block each other in SuSE? (Otherwise you could have both of them installed, so that in the worst case you can switch to the previous version.)

Random Bleeds is part of "gimpperl", and the other one (Mirror Split?) I think as well. The version of gimpperl that SuSE has got on their server right now might presumably work with GIMP 1.2 only. But a GIMP2 compatible version of gimpperl already is a module in GIMP CVS (I see it already contains Random Bleeds), so it might just take a short while until SuSE packages it for GIMP2, maybe as gimpperl2 or so.
