Well the fun places aren't always cut up as they are thought to be. I mean, in the hub of all that urban entertainment, often I would wish to escape to the silence of the wilderness, as had done in my younger days.
But I do admit having a rollicking great time there, and was able to date a lovely lass or two. Especially in DC, where I went absolutely nuts in the museums.
As for reading, I too have a short attention span (I am ADHD), but then a great book will really have you glued. What is so beautiful about great literature is that you don't need pictures. The writing is so vivid, that the reader becomes a co-creator of the story by creating the images by himself in this own mind.
One great sample is the "Lord of the Rings", where Tolkien had described the characters so clearly that many artists had illustrated the very similar images.

Really? Never read it. Although I must say, it all depends on what kind of imagination you have as well as how well the author wrote the book. Have you read Twilight? If so, what did you think of it? (I haven't read it because I don't believe in vampires that sparkle.)
BTW, you're very pleasant to talk to, or rather wright to. Thanks for your time!

Actually I have never cared to read "Twilight" myself. Upon reading its preface, I already knew that this book would not be the right genre for my gender or age. Yet I do agree that it is well written for its specific audience, which are young girls.
And that connects to what you had mentioned as "the imagination of the reader"
As for "vampires that sparkle", I do believe that it was Anne Rice and even Copola's "Dracula" that started the trend of the 'delectable male vampire', whereas the 'vamp' has always been a part of old vampiric lore
PS
It is likewise nice writing to you

Aw, thank you!
Yeah, I've always seen male vampires but not many females. Usually they are the victims of the vampire,no? I don't think I've actually seen Dracula, but I'm pretty sure he doesn't sparkle.
Man, some people at my school got over obsessed with Twilight. My friends all thought it was stupid. I guess it depends on if you like the original kind of vampire or the sparkly kind. Everyone's different.

Most vampiric lore does revolve around a male vampire and his preference for female victims, however there have been cases of female vampires and their thirst for both genders
The classic Dracula films with Lee and Lugosi had that 'unappealing' vampire, especially the old silent film "Nosferatu"
But in Copola's "Dracula", Gary Oldman plays a mix of the demonic vampire and the lost soul at the same time. I remember some friend having a crush on him after watching the film
As for "Twilight", I remember someone saying that the character of the girl isn't too well developed (or 'shallow'), in order to have female readers / views interject their own persona into her character to 'feel' the story. This writing technique is quite typical in romance novels, that makes the readers feel it is her in the fantasy. And the male vampire plays the typical character of the 'misunderstood bad boy' who is looking for a true love who will understand his pains . . .
And that is why so many girls (including my students) are hooked on this film

Ah. I must say that the characters in Twilight seem very unrealistic in character. I also heard that the girl, Bella, was very over dramatic and Mary-Sue ish. They made a graphic novel for it too.
By the way, do you think it'd be possible to make a living of art? My mom doesn't believe so and my friend said that I'd need a bit more support than just making comics.

I did see the graphic novel in the book store, which proves this is really more as a money making venture rather than making a great piece of literature
As for making a living through art, of course there is . . . graphic designers (publications or advertising), production designers (film, theater or exhibition), painters, sculptors, printmakers, fashion designers, costume designers, animators, photographers, comic artists, writers, etc
The question is all about the passion and disciple as well as the willingness to create something out-of-the-box / risks (and mixed with a bit of business and management skills) to be truly successful
I know a lot of people in all these categories who are famous and successful, some are famous and broke, some are successful but not very well known, and some a just unsuccessful
The thing is the same goes for any profession . . . because I know a lot of lawyers wwho are famous and successful, some are famous and broke, some are successful but not very well known, and some a just unsuccessful

Right! Good literature comes from the heart.
...Getting a job sounds stressful... It must be really hard to make a living for most people. But I guess it depends on if people like your work or not, right?

I hear ya, and thanks. But one tip I should offer is that lazyness isn't the best trait. (I should know, 'cuz I'm one professional out of... say.... the world?) haha, It's hard to break the lazy habbit, huh?
