Hello there, sir. I would like you to know that you are a grade A ASSHOLE. For one thing, taking my friend's picture and altering it WITHOUT HER PERMISSION is just wrong. In fact, it's illegal, and I will make sure that if you do not remove this picture from wherever you might have it posted, I will hunt you down via IP address and sue your sorry ass. So, thank you and have a nice day.

Um... OK, I replied to this the other day, but dA seems not to want to display my comment. Anyway... I think I figured out what you were talking about, and I must say, you completely mis-interpreted my intentions and flew off the handle for no reason. Can you say 'paranoid'? Please, seek help, before you hurt yourself or others.
Looking at your page, I see you're watched by ~iceprincess081685 , and so I assume you're talking about my comment and e-mail to her regarding [link] . I thought it was quite clear from both the comment and e-mail I sent her that I was just trying to help her get the most out of a photo she'd taken. I was in no way trying to steal her work. I wanted to see if my suspicions of how damn cool the picture could look with a little tweaking were correct, found they were, and just wanted her to see the result. I didn't post it anywhere at all. In fact, I made a few edits, sent her a copy, and deleted the picture from my hard-drive. I doubt somehow that it's illegal to change the colours of a picture a little and show the original artist in hopes of letting them get the most out of their photographs. What's the point of an art community if we don't try to help each other achieve our best? I told her to just ignore me if she felt I was intering, also, and she seems to have done. Fair enough. Strange that she could just ignore me and you come shouting at me...
Anyway, if you still feel the way you did when you posted your original comment, have fun trying to sue a guy with about £14,000 of debt who's done nothing wrong. You can have my shirt, I guess. It's too hot to wear it, anyway...
Hope you have a nice day too. If you don't have to go to a funeral it'll be better than mine was...

Alright, well, as long as she no longer has a problem, I no longer have a problem. But, for future reference, even if your intentions are good and you feel that you are simply trying to help out the artist...ask first. She felt very insulted and upset that you said that a picture she felt very proud of was very imperfect. Now, it might be a bit egotistical to say that the picture was perfect, but she did not want it altered at all. She loved it just the way it was. In any case, next time, just comment and say what you would like to do. It would save a lot of confusion and frustration from now on. Have a lovely day.

I never knew she had a problem in the first place. She just totally ignored me. Insulted that I said it was imperfect? I didn't actually say that... but no-one can expect a photo taken straight from a camera as is to be perfect every time, anyway. Digitally touching up photos in Photoshop is a good thing, even if you like the original. There's almost always something that could make it look better, if only the adjusting the colour balance or contrast. I didn't mean to insult anyone, but maybe she should get a copy of Photoshop or some other such program and play around with stuff like that so as to avoid anyone else commenting on it in future, if that's the case... Being unable to accept that something you've done is by no means perfect is just ridiculous. Nothing's ever perfect. Yes, it's a very nice photo, but it could look better. As I said, I didn't want to insult anyone, but that's the truth; she should just accept and get over it. What's the difference between just saying "Oh, it'ld look better if you did this and this and this and maybe a little of that." and showing someone how exactly it could look better? I don't see much of one, except that the latter is a better way of displaying exactly what you mean. Anyway... I'll go find some people who can take constructive criticism and actually want to improve their artwork...

Huh what? Um... firstly, who's your friend, secondly, what picture did I alter without permission, thirdly, thanks for being so polite. Nice to know people have such good manners nowadays...

No problem; I love that picture . All your work's really good, actually. I wish I had as much ability to make cool stuff as you do in your little finger alone... (if you lost both your little fingers in a freak childhood accident, I sincerely apologise).
I am and I am. Well, kinda in London. About 25 minutes outside of Central London by train, in fact, but close enough, I guess.
Ooh, prints, huh? I'll be sure to come by and get some once I get some money... Actually, I think I'll
your new account, if that's OK with you...?

Ah, I know Sutton, kinda, vaguely. It's the same sort of side of London as I am, kinda, maybe, I think, perhaps.
Ooh, lots of fingers! I could make a necklace! Will you cut them off yourself, or would you rather I do it...?

pickledfairy In reply to RobMRowe [2004-08-30 11:24:59 +0000 UTC]
Sutton is South East London ha ha... Ummm if you wanna cut them off you can.. but do it quickly and nick my thumbs and first two fingers and you die!!! Ill have to say that I think you are very taleneted too.. I think your fractual pictures are absoloutely beutiful.. in fact I was gonna comment on a few of them.. but forgot.. so I will do now. Ive always wanted to learn how to do them but dont have the programs and would have no idea how to use them if I did.. I think fractual pictures are so beutiful they amaze me that maths.. something I really hate.. can produce something so stunning.

Yep, I live in the South East of Greater London, also. In the Bromley area, if you know it. Well, I live there even if you don't know it... Got a chisel I can use? I'm afraid I don't have my own. Otherwise I guess kitchen knives would work, with a bit of sawing. If you want to look into making fractals (fractal flames, at any rate, which is what most of mine are) check out the link in my signature, to the group for the program I use. It takes a little bit of getting used to, but there are plenty of tutorials and the like, and once you get the basics it's fun to experiment and see what cool stuff you can make . Good luck with it, if you do have a go...
