300 word review of Strangeprogram
Strangeprogram, know by many as Dyst, is one of the most exciting and experimental abstract artists on the digital art scene. Dystβs artworks are well known for their bold experimentation with shape and colour; always enticing you back for a second, a third and even a fourth look. However, I think the truly admirable part of this artistβs style is the remarkable feeling of looseness so many of his works possess.
It is not often in the digital medium that you find works that donβt look contrived or static, in my experience this is because each change you make to a digital artwork is very deliberate. The truth is that there are many positive qualities to a paint brush, a pencil, a stick of charcoal or a chisel that donβt transpose amicably onto the digital platform. This is what makes Strangeprogramβs works inspirational β with works such as βFlux,β βDilation,β and β12aaaβ he demonstrates an admirable ability to surpass the commonly experienced limitations and barriers of digital art.
Take his piece βFlux,β for instance. This piece demonstrates Dystβs great eye for colour - the colours are jubilant and emote joy without seeming childish. The composition is both lively and messy in a good way, one that is pleasant to the eye.
Furthermore, Dyst is always proving what a talented artist he is, not just as an individual, but when collaborating with fellow artists. Works like βHeartbreakerβ carry a frenetic energy, with wild compositions and brave colour choice; yet amidst this Strangeprogram never seems to forget the importance of the little details β the small shapes that keep oneβs interest.
