Exams indeed. and a month after those I'll turn eighteen! D: which means I'm an adult according to the law in Holland.
Naw I haven't even started on my portfolio. and according to their site they'll ignore everything that's not perpective, machanical or Life drawing. but I don't exactly know what they mean by mechanical; as in, machines? bikes? cars?
so I've got to fill sketchbooks with those kind of drawings.
sheesh D: mine started last tuesday. i wonder when Fall break starts, probably takes a week or 10... I've decided to turn into a nerd this year to pass my exams, since I never did any homework the past years... not that my grades slipped that much due to that... But raising my grades for math and German won't harm

xDDDD I need to enjoy this year, because I'm going to have to study a LOT for next year... (HUGE exams and junk) and I still have 2 APs (advanced Placements) which means that I have to take a huge test for each of them in May

Advanced placements? What does that mean? Something like; when you get those you can go to better schools or something?
And I should probably send an e-mail concerning the 'mechanical drawings'. They also seemed to appreciate paintings... *unpacks loads of boxes with different kinds of paint from the closet which were hardly touched*
and I thought it was 21 instead of 18 in the states? or at least: the legal drinking age.
In Holland, for some odd reason everyone is allowed to drink from the age of 16. although the stronger stuff has to wait until the drinker turns 18.
I'm 17 right now and I haven't drunk a single drop of alcohol yet

Advanced Placements (APs) weight your GPA, so you can have a B and still have a 4.0. And yes, it does look better to colleges since it's a college course

I still dun get it 8D American education system is so confusing! what's GPA?
here in Holland we don't have B's A's C's D's E's of F's to rate our tests. we've got numbers!
A equals 10, B 8, C 6, D 4, E 2 and F 1. except we can also get a note like 7.2 or something. so I'f you've got a 5.5 on your final list for something, it'll be turned into a 6 and pass for it. although a 5.45 fails.
and Highschool and middle school are kind of glued together here. except from the very first year ( age 12 ) you are assigned to a certain kind of school. we've got like 3 different levels. Vmbo Havo and Vwo. which each last a different amount of time: 4, 5 and 6 years. those who pass VWO get to go to university. for the other two there's two different kinds of colleges. around 60% of the population enters vmbo. 10% gets to go to vwo. I'm one of those nerds and I am currently in that sixth year. ( I've just got a handy-dandy memory and a nice sense of logic, I guess I'm one of those lucky bastards which don;t have to do much to get a nice note. )
Although the college I want to go to actually is for those who graduated from Havo
Although loads of people decide halfway they might have ended up at the wrong place, so Vwo of my year started with around 90 people, we ended up with around 50 since so many people left to do havo.

although the government suddenly decided that the system is a bit off, so they kind of plan on fusing the havo-graduates-college with university and split it into four different kinds like America or something. although I don't have a clue what that's supposed to mean.
( It's the first thing Holland seems to appreciate in a long while about America, so be glad

Four levels? Of education? We have pre-school (3 and 4 year olds) Elementary School (Grades Kindergarden-5th), Middle School (6th-8th) and HIgh school (9-12)

well the 4 levels thing comes after high school. IDK really, I just saw something like that on the news.
we've also got elementary school, it lasts from the age of 4-5 until 11-12
middle school and highschool both last 3 years right? then do highschool students graduate at the age of 18?
well an A/10 is rather impossible to get at VWO
Our biology teacher once stated that the average of a certain test was 6.5 ( C+ or B- ) and he said that that actually was TOO HIGH since it was 0.3 points above the national exam average!( 0.2 is allowed though, but if the difference'd be greater, than some certain government people would pass by to scold our school ) So he promised us to make sure next time 50% of our class would get a failing grade so that the average would be lower.

My Dutch teacher informed me that 'university' in america can actually differ a lot in the level of education, the university in Holland on the contrary, is for people who become scientists doctors managers etc. that kind of level.

And everything is on hiatus right now, my computer isn't working D: I'm doing everything from my laptop which needs a certain version of photoshop.

My dad bought a laptop recently, from which I'm typing right now, and I installed photoshop 8.0, which I also use on the other pc. It works fine. Although it was a bit expensive so that was to be expected.
Anyway, good luck XD I'm also working on a lot although I've been more productive lately, I haven't made anything for DA ( I've been busy with the schoolpaper, I've got to keep our name as the best schoolpaper-online from holland XD although the number of people has dramatically decreased... )

I honestly have no idea... my dad's the computer genius and he's not gonna be at home for a while, he's helping my brother move out (he's going to college 
the sigh was because it's frustrating knowing that all of my work is on hiatus and there's nothing I can do about it. I may even lose all of the files. If I get them back, the FIRST thing im gonna do is BACK EVERYTHING UP
