Hey! String Theory inspired me to work on a story-project I had a while ago and that night I got a genius-spark how the story should end, so...thank you for making my brain creative again! (Schtein is one of the best character I ever saw btw! [The others too, of course]) Keep it up!!

Through pure chance, I stumbled upon String Theory today and it has almost instantly become my favorite web comic (among many!). The character design is simple yet eloquent, and as an aspiring artist I have to say the coloring is light years ahead of my own. Dr. Schtein is the crass and un-apologetically evil genius I've always wanted to create, and has been muddling around in the back of my mind for some time.
I've always been dissatisfied with a world dominated by superHERO based stories. One's with inept cardboard villains. I've always enjoyed any comic/show/story with a competent bad guy. I don't know what will happen next in the comic (though Dr. Schtein seems to have his supervillain uniform already planned out), but I will read on with interest. It's a captivating story rendered in beautiful color and amazing detail.
I don't mean to pay you an underhanded compliment (or whatever the term is), but your artwork and coloring isn't life-like (that may not be your intent, but there it is). However, it has a striking and unique style that inspires me to continue honing my own.

Yeah, I'm with you on being upset at cardboard cutout villains. They annoy me. Life isn't black and white like that.
I would advise that you not work on honing a style, however. Maybe I do have a unique style, but I didn't get that way by focusing on it. I do actually draw from life a lot. I find it easier to convey believable cartoon forms if I know the rules of anatomy and three dimensional form. The more I study real people and scenery the better my cartoon art gets.
I know that seems kind of wrong, but think about it like a house. Reality is the sturdy foundation that lofty imaginative art is held up by.
I feel that by focusing on honing a style you're actually limiting your potential.

You make some interesting points. It is true that focusing on the end product can cloud the process, which is where the learning takes place.

Sometimes I have trouble reading comics that are really long, even if they're really good. They're sort of daunting.

I have the opposite problem. If I find something good I will keep reading until I finish. Can't resist good stories. So even if your comic is really long I probably would've read it in one go anyway.
